Acerca de esta escucha

New York Times bestselling coauthors Shäron Moalem and Daniel Kraus's terrifying sci-fi horror thriller takes place in a future that is much nearer than you think. It is a world where scientific experimentation is exploited for commercial profit and under-supervised cutting-edge technology creates a menace that threatens the very fabric of our existence.

Wrath is the story of Sammy, a lab rat instilled with human genes whose supersized intelligence helps him to engineer his escape into the world outside the lab: a world vastly ill-equipped to deal with the menace he represents. Modified through advances that have boosted his awareness of humankind’s cruelty in the name of science, Sammy has the potential to sire a rodent army capable of viciously overwhelming the human race. The key to Sammy’s capture and humanity’s salvation may be ten-year-old Dallas Underhill, whom Sammy adopts. But while Dallas and Sammy bond, time is running out for humankind: once Sammy sires his progeny, the exponential proliferation of his kind could spell the end of the world.

For fans of dystopian works such as Jeff VanderMeer’s Southern Reach Trilogy and Emily St. John Mandel’s Station Eleven, and fans of Neal Stephenson, Michael Crichton, and Blake Crouch. This heart-pounding, science-based thriller takes place in a possibly all-too-soon reality where the hazards and consequences.

So incredible but NOT for the faint of heart

Wow. This has been my summer of horror and this is probably the most horrific of all. If you like a sci-fi driven thriller, or even if it's not really your jam, this book was so good. The book centers on a company called Edited Pets that...edits pets to be more...interesting. Uplifted, one of the characters suggests. Owned by a guy who overcame poverty and bullying only to become a true capitalist alpha a$$hole, Edited Pets needs a win. Its principal scientist, Sienna, injects human DNA into rat zygotes, and, if you have seen a single Jurassic Park movie, you know what happens next.

The story is character driven and moves on quickly from there, with security guard and pest control specialist Prez and his dog, and hearing challenged child Dallas, who lives with his train-conductor mother in a down-market complex in Harlem providing the deep humanity that contrasts with Edited Pets' vile capitalism.

This is a true horror novel, and I say this because it is not for the faint of heart. The hardest scenes are of animal cruelty in the lab, but also body horror when the time comes. It is visceral and haunting and it pulls exactly zero punches. Imagine the worst death by rats, with their teeth and their sewage smell and you maybe get the idea.

All of that having been said, this was a fantastic horror read. Modern horror at its best is a commentary on contemporary society and oh, man. We could write a book about this book. A rat learns about humanity through the worst of humanity. I won't give the rest away. This novel is touching and sweet and hard and gross and incredibly human.

10 points to the narrator

The narrator took an already great book and turned it into an incredible adventure. Got me hooked from the get go, even though the premises were not really promising (modern actual settings, abundant references to brands and celebrities). I dare anyone to imitate a speaking rat and make it sound credible, but Ryder made it and even took it a step further.

Great characters, great action. Can't really say much about the story as I didn't find anything particular exciting or new about it. Also, a few times the science had to take some major leaps into the fantastic in order for the story to proceed, but that didn't necessarily ruin the experience for me.

Worth the listen and lots of fun

Well, read with a great premise, but ultimately went in pretty disappointing direction. Even though I wish the book did more of what it doesn’t do. What it does do is done well. I’ll just keep listening to children of time oh.

Amazing Performance

Just incredible. I haven't read anything from Dr. Moalem before, but Daniel Kraus is one of my favorite authors and Wrath absolutely lived up to my high expectations.. Wrath's story is fantastic and the performance from Ryder Smith totally brought it to life. I loved the different voices for each character, especially Sammy.

Absolutely Worth Your Time...

Shocked there are only 7 reviews to date; this is -not- just a rat invasion book. Perhaps one of the best science thrillers I have read and the performance is easily of the best I've ever heard.
Though comparable to Jurassic Park in theme, it was a far more rewarding read; exciting, intelligent, horrific, surprising.

I will be recommending this book,

So much fun!

Perfect summer read. The book felt like a mash up of Michael Crichton meets John Connolly (Samuel Johnson series). Highly recommend!

Creepy

From the beginning of this story I was hooked. Lots of crazy situations and done so well.
I listened all of it in one go. By the time it ended I actually sighed out loud.
Narrator is absolutely on point for this story. Great story and storytelling!
