In The Invitation, Eldon “Mack” McBride is more than pleased to meet the quite fetching young woman who operates a canoe livery on the property adjoining the vacant business he just purchased. But all of that unravels the moment that Paula Singleton finds out that the new business Mack is opening is a gun shop. It was bad enough for Mack that a budding relationship seems to be dashed. But when two deputies show up with Paula regarding a trash complaint, he suggests that she could benefit from some creative use of one of her canoe paddles. But what will happen when Paula is confronted with evidence that Mack has been falsely accused?

The Suggestion tells the story of Trevor and Connie Mason, and their struggle to find a satisfactory resolution to the fact that their marriage is being strained by Connie’s frequent and often unwarranted criticism of her husband, her business partner. They are finding that the tension they experience during their working hours is having a very detrimental effect on their personal relationship. It just happens that Connie’s closest friend is her husband Trevor’s sister Yvonne. And when Connie confides to Yvonne the nature of the problems they are being faced with, Yvonne offers to sit down with them and relate the manner in which she and her own husband resolved the biggest crisis in their marriage.

A number of intertwining lives become involved in The Great Manifest High School Athletic Caper and The Flippity Uppity Morning. It seems that a complex crisis comes about involving residents of a small Texas school district when an attempted but unsuccessful hacking of the school district’s computer system is uncovered. It is problematic enough that the culprits are the girls high school basketball coach, a school alumnus, and another alumnus, the mother of a star player. They are found to be the instigators in trying to avoid having their school schedule a powerful rival team that stands in the way of the Manifest team having a run at an undefeated season. But the complications do not end there, for the widowed, handsome forty-eight-year-old principal, Bart Henderson, has been in the process of dating and falling in love with that very same forty-five-year-old mother of the star player. Now, Deb Calloway finds herself alongside the thirty-year-old coach in confessing the attempted plot so full of potential ramifications for so many. But it is a small, close-knit community, and a select few know what has happened. They are reluctant to want the two accused women to face typical legal and bureaucratic, administrative remedies that would typically be applied to such a situation. They are instead offered the opportunity to have something else generously applied to a sensitive place on each one’s attractive body.

It is nothing less than The Apology that Elaine Eldridge owes to her mother-in-law that will bring resolution to an unnecessary insult. When Elaine and her husband Tom bring his parents into their paint store business, she makes negative assumptions regarding their financial involvement, and the extent her mother in law positively contributes to the efficiency of the business. Tom’s father is reluctant to confide to his son that the situation is becoming painful to Tom’s mother. But finally the day comes when everything is brought out into the open in a candid fashion. And when Elaine has to come to grips with the way she has been acting, Tom and Elaine decide her immature behavior must be addressed through a course of action that is most appropriate and direct.
