Awesome book!

Remi did a great job writing and narrating this book. His story is pretty inspiring and anyone thinking they can't get anywhere in life due to any number of circumstances should read/listen to this book. Perseverance and and hard work pay off!

Inspiring Story

I listened to this book on long walks while on my quest to become more fit and healthy. This story was fuel for me. I love the “Never Give Up” message that Remi Adeleke writes about here. It is a beautifully told story.

Such an amazing story.

I have read quite A few navy seal books. This by far has to be one of the best books I have read and can’t believe everything Remi went through. So amazing what God has done through him and all that he has accomplished. Have so many questions and just feel like Remi would be an amazing person to sit and have a conversation with. Great book man!!

This book is in my top 5. Amazing book I'll highly recommend to many. This book will have you reflecting on your own life.

Fantastic and enlightening story

I really enjoyed this book. He really did defy the odds that had been stacked against him repeatedly. For anyone with dense body structure and no access to resources, the path to special forces is very difficult.

Engaging life story

Remi Adeleke's life began in Nigeria, but after his father died, he and his brother were brought up with little money by their single mother in the Bronx. Black, with a poor education, and troubles with the law, his future was bleak. Remi's path to becoming a Navy Seal was inspiring. The start of this memoir, though, was a little slow. I almost quit, but held on until his journey as a Seal began. That's when his story pulled me in. I was interested in his life as a Seal and in his growth as a person. There is a part of Remi's transformation that is connected with his Christian awakening. I am not religious, and I did not feel preached at, like in some books with a Christian theme, so it was not off-putting to me. I expect other readers will be inspired by that part. To me, this memoir of an underdog was enjoyable and inspiring. The author read this, and did a very good job.

Aspire and Inspire

Really appreciated Remi taking the time to read this himself. This very much reminded me of my upbringing as a Jamaican immigrant to NYC. Great story of family, resilience, faith, service, and love. What stood out was how many people were involved in this transformation. None of us do it by ourselves. So when we get that help, take it and fly. Tremendous book!
