What other book might you compare Tiffany Girl to and why?

Like other Deeanne Gist books, this one is built on the history of our country. This one was an interesting time historically as women were just beginning to speak up for their rights. Ms. Gist does a great job of developing her characters so that you understand and can envision them.

Which character – as performed by Rachel Botchan – was your favorite?

She did a great job on all of them, so it's impossible to pick a favorite. I was easily able to distinguish the characters from one another and she has a very pleasant voice when speaking out of character.

Any additional comments?

Whenever I finish one of Ms. Gist books, I find myself looking forward to the next one. And it can never get her quickly enough!

They just keep getting better

I loved this story. Deeanne thank you for keeping your gift in the Kingdom. You could have done anything!

Good but...

This is my least favorite of all of Dee's books. It was too long (86 chapters!) and I didn't like Flossy. I don't know why Reeve falls in love with her. I guess the main point was to expose us to the history of the time but I found it a little boring. The narrator was great though.

A step back in time.

Flossie and Reeve. I really wasn't sure I liked these two at the beginning of the book. But I took my time with this one. It was thoroughly enjoyable. Slowly the story unravels and you find yourself immersed in the history of New York, The Tiffany Company, and a boarding house full of interesting characters. The romance was so sweet and almost unexpected.
The women's movement wasn't in full swing yet and I'm very happy it didn't overwhelm the story. Flossie's need for freedom mirrored my own when I was her age.
I felt as if I stepped through time. I will put this book on my keeper shelf so I can pay them a visit again.
The narrator did a fine job.

Great historical story

I was very impressed. Not my normal genre but will look for more from this author. The descriptions drew the images to my minds eye. Thank you DG and RB. A story worth spending time in the past.

Enjoyed this book

I enjoy historical fiction. This was an enjoyable listen and it was interesting learning about the Tiffany Girls.

oozing with first time love

I thought it would be more about Tiffany's and the world's fair. If you like romance novels without explicit sex scenes this is for you. I stick with it and made it to the end. just a bit too sappy and long for my taste.

I love Deanne's books

this story didn't disappoint. a girl gets her first taste of the world in her time and learns some hard truths. the narrator did a great job.

Loved the history

The history in Tiffany Girl was outstanding. The romance was okay. The first two thirds of the book flew by, but the last third seemed to drag. Maybe it was because I was listening to the book instead of reading it.

ONE OF THE BEST WE LISTENED TO

At first I was somewhat turned off by the "ERA" Equal Rights Amendment type of woman being described and promoted. But as the plot developed, it had many real-life dilemmas and balanced that view with a Christian perspective. We also thought the writer was taking too long in getting the Mr. Reed to come back to his love. But we were pleasantly surprised that Jane demanded a new courting period before they got married ASAP. Very well written and all the many voices were well-done.
