As educators, we have learned the research on brain science, we have seen that addressing only the academic needs of students isn't enough, and we have attended all the [virtual] conferences on why we need to consider more than simply a child's IQ or test scores when supporting them. But what do we do now?
The Whole Child School answers that question. Providing practical strategies for younger and older students, Job Iles takes us from ambiguity to application. Through his experience as a classroom teacher, a school administrator in all levels of K-12, and in district level leadership for a district of 60k students, he has gathered countless strategies that you can now "borrow".
Each chapter is set up to allow the practitioner to quickly pull ideas and concepts and immediately apply them to their particular setting. Additionally, the listeners can check out the research upon which the author has based his strategies by simply accessing the bibliography at wholechildschool.com. The Whole Child School is not designed as an academic approach to consequences, student behavior, or school leadership. Rather, Job provides strategies that equip school leaders and teachers to support the whole child in any area of the school setting. Because if we want to develop successful adults, we must support the whole child.
