Acerca de esta escucha

Two women, brought together by tragedy, strive to find themselves on Martha’s Vineyard. But it’s not easy to heal old wounds in a powerful novel about family, secrets, motherhood, and the cold grip of the past.

A desperate murder committed by Angela Miller’s mother tore Angela’s life apart and brought her to Martha’s Vineyard to live with her wealthy grandparents. It’s where her cousin, Kiki King, was born and raised, and Kiki now wants nothing more than to see the world beyond its sandy perimeter. Kiki’s mother escaped it. She took a late-night swim off Tashmoo Beach and was never seen again.

Once bound by broken childhoods, Angela and Kiki have grown up divided—by their obsessions, their love for the same man, and their own conflicted journeys of motherhood. But when a small box of bones is unearthed in the woods, Angela and Kiki discover there’s so much more to learn about each other, their families, and the dark side of the picturesque island they call home.

It’s time for Angela and Kiki to expose their secrets, to finally end a cycle of family drama and anguish, and to forgive and make peace with the past on their own terms.

Reseñas de la Crítica

“Secrets wash up like seawater in Addison McKnight's island tale of betrayal and deception, which proves one age-old truth. Nobody can hurt you like those who love you best.”—Jenny Milchman, USA Today bestselling author of Cover of Snow and The Usual Silence

“Suspenseful, dark, and emotionally riveting, The Vineyard Remains contrasts an idyllic setting with complex family secrets, which makes for a pacey and intense read.”—May Cobb, author of A Likeable Woman

The Vineyard Remains is a fast-paced, juicy read filled with bad blood and backstabbing, but beyond the dark secrets and tangled relationships at the center of the story is a necessary exploration of the ways in which trauma pins us to our past while trying to dominate our present.”—Megan Collins, author of The Family Plot

Great narration.

Enjoyed the story of two cousins at odds over a man and the many lies they endured.

Good story but didn't care for the narrator

The story was well enough written, perhaps a bit too drawn out. But it still kept me interested. But the narration, as clear and understandable as it was, just annoyed me. I think it was the clipped words that happened when the narrator was doing other voices besides the 2 main female characters..

Touching story of two cousins affected by domestic abuse

This is a well written novel that follows two estranged cousins whose lives are hindered by their abusive fathers. The story continues into their adulthoods, where old wounds don’t have them making the best choices. Good illustration of these situations without getting too graphic. Recommended.

If you like the Hallmark Channel

Very sweet and sentimental. Despite a few twists that completed the”moral of the story,” the book is a wonderful primer for girls coming of age. Lessons re senses of self, determinism coupled with abuse are strung together from start to finish.

Intriguing Story

Well written and narrated. Story kept me reading even if I was frustrated by some of the the characters inability to rectify their situation. The story could be a huge trigger for women who are stuck in such horrible situations with no means of help or support.

Kept My Interest

The story was good, though not totally believable in a few parts. I didn’t care for the narrator who did Kiki’s voice, but the others were good. Overall an entertaining listen.

My heart is still beating fast

I finished about 20 minutes ago and my heart is still beating fast. This book dives head first into the world of abuse and the consequences of it. It’s heartbreaking in the raw realness, the experience of true evil. It will take me a while to recover. Brilliant!!!

The Vineyard Remains by writing duo Addison McKnight is good. I related to one cousin and despised the other. While both cousins had trauma and growing to do, one was too immature and so self-centered she literally admits she never thought of anything beyond her situation. I hated hearing from her and felt very little sympathy for her, even less when compared to the other cousin. I liked the journey from childhood to becoming an adult and that it more closely reflected real life, although not completely realistic.

I was triggered by the descriptions of domestic violence and could have done without them as they were quite lengthy. However, other scenes were so swift and over in the blink of an eye that it was jarring. The twist was easy to figure out much too early on.

Carlotta Brentan, Maria McCann, and Angelina Rocca were okay narrators.
