The original version of Nisbet's story has not been received well in the modern, online age.
So, we have rewritten the story in modern English and have changed the storyline.
The plot and main characters have been substantially changed, giving the story a twist of romance.
Spoiler-free summary: The story takes place at a cottage situated in the rugged moors in the north of England. When Ariadne, a maid at the guesthouse, meets a dark, handsome stranger by chance, sparks begin to fly. Can love endure in this remote place?
