Great Story, but...

I love the story, love the narrators voice, but whether it is the narrator or the director, there are just too many times the narrator is yelling the words. while I understand the intensity when he yells, it is TOO LOUD. it also seems to show certain characters as unable to control their responses. Having been in the military I know that senior officers, no matter the stress, YELL unless it is so loud that can't be heard. Maybe if they just balanced the volume better on the playback. some is so quiet it can barely be heard and then it goes so loud It is nuts.

A guilty pleasure

This series cracks me up.

Written with an almost teenage enthusiasm and narration varying from a deep purr to a shouting scream I should hate this series….but I don’t.

I actually love it

When the writing is flawed I giggle

When the narration is hammy and over acted, I also giggle

The characters are right out of a young teenage novella and virtually no exploration of serious sci-fi…and yet…and yet I’m hooked.

Please don’t change a thing about this series.

I’ll move onto book three when I need some easy entertainment

intense action

this series provides intense action sequences with excellent character development. military sci-fi at its best. the narrator is outstanding, using vocal intonation and inflection with great effect, and when a character yells the narrator does it in a manner where you can feel it in your bones. outstanding. looking forward to continuing this.

Interesting and inventive…

Some of this takes my back to some StarTrek episodes dealing with alternate universes.

The voice acting is good, the vocal range for various characters is limited and at times can be confusing. However I am only a listener and not a voice actor. But I have listened to over 100 Audio Books. Some of my more favorite Audiobooks use a combination of 2 - 4 voice actors and that seems to increase the immersion and enhances the overall quality of the audiobook.

I always enjoy a good M.R. Forbes book. I’ve listened to or read everyone he’s produced and I always look forward to whatever he does next.
