Dr. Watson anxious to learn what became of The Sovereign Order of Monte Cristo and the heirs it was established to protect asked Sherlock Holmes, “So, what became of The Count of Monte Cristo’s daughters we last heard of in the antebellum South?” “Do you want me to skip right past the Civil War and into this present time?” Holmes replied. “Not entirely, but for now yes, can you please continue the story presently, I was just wandering since you jumped into the local Styles case in more modern time not involving Monte Cristo.” “Very well then, let me give you the connection between Styles and The Secret Adversary adventure also involving my dear student Agatha Christe. In this story, I will disguise Agatha as Tuppence, Monte Cristo’s granddaughter as Jane Finn and myself as Mr. Carter.” “You mean to say that one of Monte Cristo’s granddaughters has a connection to Agatha Christe, your protégé and that you are involved with The Order in today’s world?” “Yes, my dear Doctor, you will now learn that The Order is ever at work, and not only I am involved but The Count himself appears disguised in the story as a different ‘count’ from America.” “May I know which granddaughter, that of Mercedes or Haydee?” “The fact that she speaks French may give it away for you, but let me not give too much away now so that you will more thoroughly enjoy this wonderfully true, mysterious adventure.
