The Power of Love is an award-winning memoir of a soul's quest. Dr. Fran Grace, a professor of religion, narrates her life journey and describes her personal encounters with some of the century's most memorable spiritual figures.

At age 15, the author had a mystical experience that nearly shattered her. She joined a fundamentalist sect and served it until age 33 when an unexpected love affair forced her to leave the church. Though she enjoyed success in her academic career, she suffered an existential vacuum. At 39 she encountered her spiritual teacher, Dr. David R. Hawkins, who opened her heart. She moved to be near him and worked with him closely on various projects such as his Letting Go book, and she stayed with him until his death in 2012. Heartbroken from his passing, she went on a journey to learn more about the power of love. She spent time with 18 renowned spiritual leaders, scientists, activists, and artists, all of whom had been selected and verified with help from Dr. Hawkins before he passed away.

Fran Grace’s personal narrative is pulsed by her encounters with these teachers, each of whom has a chapter that includes a brief biography, excerpts from their dialogue with the author, and how they helped her to overcome struggles with health, grief, addiction, spiritual ego, sexuality, relationship difficulties, phobias, despair, a parent’s dementia, and seeing her "enemies" through the eyes of compassion. The audiobook narrative is read by the author and also provides a treasure trove of dialogues between the author and the great teachers she interviewed. The audio recording of a teacher's voice is either their own or that of someone affiliated with the path they teach.

A Very Important Book for Anyone on the Spiritual Path.

I bought this book by mistake thinking it was written by David Hawkins. I'm glad I did because now I've had an introduction to who he really was before I read any of his...but mostly because I learned more truth from this book than any other spiritually oriented book I've ever read.

Timeless wisdom that honors the Soul

I have read The Power of Love book several times since its release in 2019, each time connecting me to something deeper within myself. I was excited and eager to listen to the Audiobook the moment I heard that the author, Dr. Fran Grace, would be narrating her spiritual autobiography. Dr. Grace’s voice is both comforting and engaging. The natural flow of her narration brings a sense of presence that is warm and inclusive.

Dr. Grace speaks to the heart of the human experience. She is radically honest and vulnerable in sharing her experiences, and that is what I believe makes The Power of Love book relatable and accessible. While we each have our own unique journey, the struggle of love, loving and being loved is at the root of it all.

Alongside Dr. Grace’s own story of inner transformation is the pilgrimage she made to learn from twenty different teachers from around the world. In the Audiobook, hearing these conversations between Dr. Grace and the teachers brings their message to life. The dialogues are dynamic and full of wisdom. Each dialogue chapter is like a book unto itself. I appreciated that the voice of a teacher is narrated either by the actual person that Dr. Grace originally interviewed for the book, or an intentionally chosen individual who aligns with that teacher. It is very enriching to listen to these different voices, almost like I am there and can see Dr. Grace interact with the teacher she is interviewing.

Whether you are seeking guidance on your path or a deeper understanding of Love, The Power of Love offers timeless wisdom that honors the Soul, with practical guidance to help deal with life’s heartbreaks and challenges.

The overall effect of the Audiobook is profound. It’s so much more substantial and real than the new-age self-help books that I’ve listened to on occasion. The Power of Love takes you right into the marrow of life’s sorrows and struggles, and it’s there that the transforming power of love is found. It was there all along.

A transformative listen

Anyone who is interested in bettering their everyday life should listen. A little bit hard to get into, and I almost gave up. But thank goodness I did!

Love is everything

This book identifies the meaning and power of love and it’s impact on the world. It’s a beautiful thought provoking book with many examples provided by several teachers.

David Hawkins material

The voice of the reader/author was almost impossible to listen to. Advice would be to hire a professional. I will be more careful in the future to listen closely to the sample before ordering over audivle.
