Acerca de esta escucha

Lemony Snicket returns with the last book before the last book of his New York Times best-selling A Series of Unfortunate Events.

After any harrowing struggle, it is nice to consider checking into a hotel for a rest. In fact, this might be just the break Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire could use after their wearying deep-sea adventure.

A hotel can be a good choice for any family vacation. With so many floors, such a variety of rooms, and a curious array of guests, spending time in the safety of the right hotel can be the perfect learning environment for children of any age. A keen researcher like Klaus, an adept inventor like Violet, and a sharp-toothed culinary master like Sunny are all sure to find engaging diversions during their stay.

Regardless of how they pass their time while at a hotel, the three siblings will be sure to take in all the interesting sights and sounds, and write them down, just in case this episode turns out to be the darkest yet in a series of unfortunate events.

Curry is brilliant

Should be another book. This is still good. Enjoy Tim Curry and all his magnificent abilities as a narrator

superb

This is probably the best installment in the series as a whole. A culmination of things, this book ties together a lot of plot lines but still leaves the reader with a familiar sense of questioning

it should be called Hotel Climax

... instead of hotel denouement. I mean, this book had me thrilled to the last sentence! great twists, several familiar faces - both friend and foes - converging into a single location, great mystery, character development (with enough hints of resolution) and further blurring of lines between good and evil... I haven't read The End yet, but I can safely assume that Penultimate Peril will be my favorite book in the series.
Tim Curry also does a stellar job as always, but here it becomes even more evident. In Austere Academy, I almost gave up due to Handler's interpretation of VP Nero, and this time around he was actually enjoyable.
overall, this is the most intense, full of twists and revelations book on the series yet, with some great undertones to add more depth and complexity to the story.

Great narration, amazing dramatization

The narrator is great! the ambience is palpable, there is even a little creative touch which I will not spoil for you! If you licked all the other storie conserning the Baudelaires this one is just as great as all its precesesors

Tim Curry's voice was very helpful to make me feel like the story is actually happening.

I like Tim Curry's character impressions for each character, because he makes each one interesting in their own individual ways.

Personal Penultimate

This is my favorite book in the series. The kids are thrust into a high-stakes environment and expected to actively participate in their own (mis)fortunes (rather than fall victim to circumstance yet again). I thought there was great potential to FINALLY see major character development here, and I enjoyed the cliffhanger ending. Wish I'd have taken the author's advice and quit reading after this one.

A command performance.

Still thinking this is a children's book? Not so much. This book is a dark horse, a bitter pill reflecting our times back at us like some dreaded mirror, some horrid spectacle we can't help but look at for the command performance...is us. We are flawed actors, judges, gods flailing around life with some mishmash of morality, dogma, convoluted thought, all of us documenting, pulling out our common books and getting each point down to what purpose? It's not like we're going to do anything about it.....right?
