In a future reshaped by the melting ice caps, eleven-year-old Eliza wakes to a world of mermaids and pirates. As Eliza delves deeper into this world of intrigue and tyranny, she finds herself drawn into a daring adventure alongside Magnus, a young street magician, and Cassidy, a recluse with a mysterious connection to the mermaids and to Blythe, the formidable captain of the pirate ship, The Heartbreak. Together, they embark on a journey to confront Bartomew Spinks, the narcissistic Administrator of the West, in a tale that blends fantastical adventure with themes of friendship and the consequences of our actions.

Great storytelling!
I was hooked from the beginning!! The story, the world building, the characters and their witty banter. There are even moments of genuine feelings whether that be friendships or just of life, period. By the end you really see the progression of the characters and I, dare say, want more!!
