HI-larious

This book was friggin hilarious. There was lots of potty mouth, but I like that kinda thing. The dynamics of this family are endearing yet comic relief. Bless the person whose family looks like this. I loved all the details of the road trip - it allows the reader to follow along, maybe even allowing the reader to make a list for their own RT 66 trip. The yummy Porter made up for all of the bodily fluid jokes...
Meghan Quinn is definitely an author worth spending your money on to read!

The Mother Load

Load of fun! Loved the characters. Loved their story. Laughed a lot along the way!!!!

Meh. Too many poop jokes.

There were parts of this book I liked and thought were really good, but quite honestly I got tired of the poop jokes. Some of the humor went just over the edge to stupid.

Good Enough Humor

I didn’t go into this with many expectations since Meghan Quinn is pretty new to me as an author, but based on some of the comments And the previous Meghan Quinn book I wanted it to be more.

I enjoyed the premise of the story, fulfilling the final dream family road trip, one that their mother/wife wanted to take down Route 66, but I did have a little problem with some of the narration. I think the male narrator tried too hard with the voice inflections, I appreciate that he tried to change for the different characters just wasn’t a fan of voices. With that said the banter was good between Porter and Marley but the banter between Marley and her brother Paul was more on the childish side, it was hard for me to picture sibling adults talking and behaving the way they did. The banter with the dad was also a little weird, but yet there were parts that were oddly funny and sometimes hilarious.

So many laughs!!!

This story was hilarious, sexy, poignant fun! I lost track of how many times I nearly peed myself from laughter at the craziness. Meghan Quinn delivered on her trademark humor with this story, but there were also deeply emotional and heartfelt moments that brought tears of a different sort to my eyes.

JF Harding and Greyson Ash were comic gold as Porter, Marley and the side characters in this book. Their ability to jump into the absurdity of Marley’s family dynamic made those heartfelt moments that much more meaningful.

If you want to laugh until your face and sides hurt while getting a steamy friends to lovers, second-chance romance during a wacky family road trip complete with pranks, sibling rivalry, fearsome eyebrows, hot dogs and strange roadside tourist attractions then this is the story for you!

Adorable

Anything by Meghan Quinn is going to be a win. This story was hilarious, I loved every bit of it, and I think it was funnier listening to it than it would have been if I read it!

Hilarious!

Omg! This book has me cackle laughing out loud! Chapter 14 the blue whale story laughing so hard. This story is heartwarming and funny. The banter was good, the spice was good, and this group/family was fabulous!

This one is my favorite so far!!!

I just loved this book! It was hilarious! I laughed so much I was embarrassed in public listening too it. I've listened to a lot of Meghan's books and this by far was the funniest! It made me happy! love it!

I love this book! I’ve read it and now, after listening to it, love it even more! Hearing Marley and Porter come to life adds so much to the story. It’s still hilarious, laughter out loud funny!

Sweet Harry Truman! A raunchy & romantic road trip

Would you Funion a touching second chance romance and heartfelt family bonding during a Route 66 road trip? Or, would you Funion a romance where fighting leads to flirting (then to F-ing) and the traditional family road trip Is more like National Lampoons meets Bridesmaids, right down to the emphasis on bodily functions and physical humor?
If you said the latter, grab a Funion and strap in. This audio book is actually both, but definitely more of the latter.

I have to be in the right mood for rude and crude humor, and after the first ten minutes, I thought this would be too much for me. The book opens mid-rampage, with an axe wielding Marley mad-dogging her father Bern, brother Paul, and Paul’s best friend/Marley’s old crush Porter.

The in-your face Marley monologue in the opening scene included:
“A pile of multi colored barf rags rested in front of me waiting to be minced into my own personal hamster shit shavings.”
“I’m not usually threatening to slice buttons off men’s’ clothing with a lead shiv big enough to cut down a naughty vagina looking sycamore tree, but I’ve had my limit.”
Within ten minutes, you hear about a veiny penis and giant nut sack, and fire shooting out of a vagina. Then it gets really wrong:
The gym smelled “like someone ate a gyro burrito and secreted it out their lady business,” leaving Marley to figure out “which yoga pant clad ass was offering the offensive odor” ... and the narrator then provides the fart sounds.

Yeah. I cringed. But, I give all audio books at least one hour before I bail. Good thing too, because once it gets past these bonkers bits, the book flashes back to the beginning of the family road trip and, while there’s still profanity, potty humor, and practical jokes a-plenty, it is balanced with fun, family, and heart. We then get to more gradually love this ragtag foursome as dad Bern takes Paul, Marley, and Porter on a road trip honoring his wife’s life. The characters are super quirky, like how Bern “swears” using the Presidents. The family traditions are fun, like the Would You Funion game or the Red Dot / Grab Your Crotch thing. This is the crazy family I want to road trip with.

By the time we get to the end, and are back at the axe-wielding scene that started the book, I was right there with Marley, willing her to let loose the cray-cray. Furthermore, having now finished the book, I’m amazed that the book was both raunchy and sweet. And I loved both sides. It’s not often that I laugh out loud because of books, but this one did it for me on multiple occasions. Freakin Franklin D Roosevelt, this book rocked.
