One of the best Horus Hersey novels and how the Siege of Terra should’ve started. Plot lines of primarchs to the lowest ranked soldiers were expertly interwoven. Due to the immense pressure of the situation the primarchs have finally been humanized… or completely turned into monsters. Very excited for the rest of the series now.

Great series set in a wonderfully grim dark universe

Great story along with superb writing. Although I found it a bit hard to follow a couple of times. Most definitely worth the time and can’t wait to start the next one.

Like a lot, but had some hiccups

on chapter 3 of the next book, and I am finding that one better, this one was good but there were flow problems.

VERY VAUGE example, when there is a shadow or feeling, or vibe that affects a battle field keep going.... don't just jump to.... OH THIS IS HAPPENING at the same time. It is easy to write in as a struggle here happened, this planet or moon was undersiege. I think 2 or 3 times it is done WELL, but 2 or 3 times done badly

This was much more exciting than the previous book. Lots of players and plots that keep the story moving. I listened to it every chance I got.

Expertly constructed narrative on multiple levels

It's refreshing to get the perspective of this struggle from the lowest ranks to the most powerful Primarch, and on both sides as well. This is definitely part of a larger narrative, of course, but the stand alone story is well-constructed. The vocal performance is unsurprisingly superb.

enjoyable

I've been enjoying the series as a whole and the reader? narrator? whatever is the right title for him, does a great job of conveying the emotion behind the words.

Among the Best!

The depth of each character in the writing and the delivery of narration is among the best I’ve read or listened to in the 40k universe. It was a truly enjoyable experience. I do prefer the SFX with larger scale stories like this but if think this was still an outstanding story that takes you into the brutality, helplessness and hopelessness of “Great War”. Feels like something you can apply to our world in order to understand the sacrifice of war more completely.

Even if he didn’t like the first one this one is substantially better wow is that a good book

The action picks up as the war focuses on Holy Terra

Battle sequences are described well with viewpoints of several individual characters. I especially liked the character-building beyond the familiar primarchs and heroes/traitors.

Great Warhammer book

Several characters are depicted in a really great way. Fantastic book that I recommend if you enjoy Warhammer.
