So poignant

This novel pulled me in from the start. It is so much more than a love story. Each character was well developed and relatable. I had not read a story of World War II from this approach before
The main character, Kate, is strong, kind, loyal and resilient. I was brought to tears a number of times. Xe Sands’ reading was extraordinary. This novel will stay with me for a long time.

I didn't like the male voice of Williams daughter and granddaughter. Why didn't you get a female voice for them?

Absolutely fantastic. From the story to narration. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Recommending to everyone. The characters were so captivating, real, vulnerable and yet inspiringly strong.

Great book

I wasn’t fond of the narration but got used to it. Woman’s voice was too soft and had to put the volume up high. Men’s voice was just ok

Such love

I enjoyed this from start to finish. The narrators made the book come to life. Brought out a side to the characters that made them feel so real. Brought out emotions in me that were so realistic. I shed quite a few tears reading this wonderful book.
A love story. A war story.
A naval flight nurse meets a military man and they fall deeply in love only to be torn apart.
This is a must read. A must listen.

Not entirely predictable

A light read, entertaining but nothing astonishing. I’d recommend as a summer beach read. I know this narrator is popular and I have listened to several of her works… her inflections sound like someone constantly passing a painful poop…

Well written but sad

This book was thoughtfully written, but it did not have a satisfying ending. The narrators’ voices or tones were also a little grating.

Great storyline and I loved the narrators! Xe Sands makes every book wonderful! I’d rather listen to her than read the book.

Well told, historically possible characters

I loved the story although it was heartbreaking. So much of the story is rooted in history and accuracy, from the events to the soldiers to the nurses and all the emotions therein. The book gives excellent insight into what various populations may have been experiencing during this time in history. Well told, well narrated and much enjoyed.
