Andrew Jukes (1815-1901), deacon of St. John's Church, Hull, wrote this classic work on the offerings of the Old Testament’s Book of Leviticus and their significance for the New Testament believer. The author considers the five tabernacle offerings of Leviticus as forms of Christ's work to enable the believer's fellowship with God. The book comprises an opening chapter on types, a chapter on each of the Levitical offerings (burnt offering, meat offering, peace offering, sin offering, and trespass offering), plus a concluding chapter on the five types of offerings. Revealing how each offering portrays a different aspect of the work of Christ, Jukes brings various spiritual insights to light.

Written between A.D. 413 and 426, The City of God is one of the great cornerstones in the history of Christian thought, a book which is vital to the understanding of modern Western society. Augustine originally intended it to be an apology for Christianity against the accusation that the Church was responsible for the decline of the Roman Empire, which had occurred just three years earlier. Indeed, Augustine produced a great amount of evidence to prove that paganism was responsible for this event. However, by the time the work was finished, the book had taken on a larger theme.

Not for the beginner
Not sure how I feel about this one. I like that it is centered on Christ and introduces a couple of gems along the way, however - it lacks scriptural reference in far too many cases. If you have a basic foundation of the various types of offerings and a love of Christ and his gospel you may find this title valuable. Otherwise, I wouldn't make it a top priority. In fact, you may just want to stick to the scriptural source with the Holy Ghost as your guide. I got this book on sale and listened at 2x speed so it was worth my time.
