Interesting summary of the values and motivations of those who hunt

Interesting summary of the values and motivations of those who hunt. 2 stars for the narrator because of “geeky” voice. This subject needs a more masculine voice to be credible.

Good book……

There’s a lot to learn within his stories. Old schooler. But he goes deep into the mind of hunters. It’s a good hunters motivational book.

Would have been better as an autobiography

This book is not what it claims to be - It was suppose to focus on the philosophy of hunting; however it’s mostly just a rambling disorganized collection of opinions, thoughts, and stories about the authors life. The writer seems like a thoughtful and intelligent person and this would have been a better book if he just committed to writing an autobiography.

Another complaint is that the author focuses almost exclusively on hunting in the eastern United States with a narrow focus on his personal favorites which are duck and whitetail. I am a hunter but do not have geographical access to these types of hunting and I often felt alienated during his descriptions.

Overall I’m confused at what the author was trying to achieve with this book. If I lived in the eastern US maybe I would recommend it?
