In this classic coming-of-age story, Carter Barnwell is thrust into an early manhood as he faces the challenges of living off the land, caring for his ailing grandmother, wrestling with his budding sexuality, and wrangling with his awakening conscience. Touching story but hard to listen to.
A touching, coming of age story centered around Beaufort, South Carolina, during the Civil War. I enjoyed the story. However, the reader, who was the story’s author, was monotonous and stilted. A case proving that not all writers make good readers.
