Excellent Historical Novel!

The St Simon's Trilogy was required reading in one of my highschool English classes. I loved it then & thoroughly enjoyed listening to book 1 now. Of course. it is interesting to research the real James Gould and to note that Eugenia Price generally constructs her stories around historical facts! Can't wait to continue the trilogy.

Authentic historical facts and figures wrapped into a novel that brings them all to life.

When I read  Eugenia Price's books in hardcopy, there were multiple pages notating all the true historical figures, facts and events that were wrapped up in this novel. One of the most authentic historical novels or sets of novels that I have ever read. Unfortunately I suppose it would be boring for the narrator to list all these historical facts that make the story so rich and deeply moving, knowing that the majority of all these people and events were actual and true historical fact.

A trip thru Georgia History

I loved hearing about all the Georgia History and James Gould migration to our great state. I did speed up the voice a bit and it read better.

Local history come to life!

As an islander, I love this book. It has such a different meaning living here on the island. Ginny have St Simons a great story based on real people and real places and real events. Her grave is not more then 200 yards from my house. It offers a face to family members that are mentioned in the book. This is a novel based on historical facts. A great read. And you can still come to St Simons to see the locations written about.

Re: Wonderful Story

I first read Eugenia Price’s books when I was a young adult & I loved them then & I still do. They are wonderful Christian historical romances & I highly recommend them!!!

Awkward Narration

This story would be better if read on your own. The story itself is beautiful, but the narration is brutal and difficult to sit through.

Excellent story based on rich Georgia history on Saint Simons Island

I first read Lighthouse many years ago, and over the years would reread it from time to time, always loving the story. It was also deeply moving to me, the story of a man holding onto his dream of many years and finally seeing it come to fruition. Eugenia Price was an exceptional writer. My only complaint is with the narration, as others have mentioned. I would say the reader did a fair job, but only that. Nevertheless, don’t skip this story. If you can’t abide the narration, then get a copy of the book. You won’t be sorry.

Horrible reading of characters.

The voices used in reading this book, the narrators or characters, grate on one's nerves. They are awful, and they ruin the book I previously kept at the top of my beloved-books list. I will not rereaad the other books in the series, as getting through "The Lighthouse" this time has been a dreadful chore.
