THE USA TODAY BESTSELLER ∙ A Hitchcock fanatic with an agenda invites old friends for a weekend stay at his secluded themed hotel in this fiendishly clever, suspenseful novel from the international bestselling author of Darling Rose Gold.

"A clever, sinister fun-house ride."–People

Alfred Smettle is not your average Hitchcock fan. He is the founder, owner, and manager of The Hitchcock Hotel, a sprawling Victorian house in the White Mountains dedicated to the Master of Suspense. There, Alfred offers his guests round-the-clock film screenings, movie props and memorabilia in every room, plus an aviary with fifty crows.

To celebrate the hotel’s first anniversary, he invites his former best friends from his college Film Club for a reunion. He hasn’t spoken to any of them in sixteen years, not after what happened.

But who better than them to appreciate Alfred’s creation? And to help him finish it.

After all, no Hitchcock set is complete without a body.

"Jaw-dropping."–Riley Sager

"Hugely readable and tremendous fun."–Alex Michaelides

Reseñas de la Crítica

“This is the third book by the talented Stephanie Wrobel, and here she skips back and forth in time and perspective. Fans of Hitchcock will appreciate the many allusions to his work.”The New York Times

"[This] locked-room mystery contains masterful pacing, with suspense built around the identity of the victim and then the discovery of the killer. Wrobel's third novel . . . will be intriguing to Hitchcock amateurs and aficionados alike."Booklist (starred review)

The Hitchcock Hotel is cool, classy—but such fun; reverent—yet so original. And—above all—almost biologically impossible to put down once picked up. Hitchcock would’ve loved it. I sure as hell did.”—AJ Finn, #1 New York Times bestselling author of End of Story

Dear Listener,

What inspired me to center this story around the fanbase of Alfred Hitchcock?
"In college, I took a film studies class with a professor named Dr. Scott. (If you’ve already listened to the audiobook, this should sound familiar!) There, I was introduced to Hitchcock’s work when we watched North by Northwest. I’ve been fascinated by the director—and his impact on the genre—ever since. The prospect of doing a deep dive into his movies and life, all in the name of book research, excited me. A writer’s job is rarely glamorous, but sometimes it’s exactly as fun as it sounds."– Stephanie Wrobel, writer of The Hitchcock Hotel

Great Thriller!

I enjoyed this thriller, "Who Done It?" The twist was unexpected, like in a Hitchcock movie. Every character had secrets that kept me on my feet. The narrators, Michael Crouch, Gail Shalan, and Helen Lloyd, did a fantastic job with all the characters.

Hitchcock would make it a movie

Very good story with characters that you learn to dislike. It is a good mystery story but not scary and not too atmospheric. There are many twists and turns so stick with it. Hitch would have made a movie better than the book.

Filled with Hitchcock References

Filled with Hitchcock References. It has been too many years since I have watched any Hitchcock. When I was growing up I used to watch the Hitchcock TV show on Tuesday nights. I was in seventh or eighth grade so more years ago than I care to remember. I was a fan. I even watched some of the TV episodes more recently on Netflix- still twenty plus years ago. For some reason I didn’t see his movies when they came out. I remember when both Psycho and Birds were released but it was many years later when I saw them. I did see North by Northwest when it was in theaters and somewhere along the line I watched Read Windows and Vertigo. I am inspired to go back and watch the films and even the TV episodes.
The book it’s a border story with some strange twists. Somehow the final ending seemed to lack something.

Nice Twists and Turns

The was a great read. There are many twists and turns to keep you guessing as you get to know the people gathered for a college reunion. Who is guilt, and of what? Who is suspicious about what and about whom?

I liked it

The only reason I did not give this a five star rating is I guessed the murderer early on, however, I truly enjoyed the conclusion. Definitely entertaining.

An Interesting Hitcockian-style Thriller

Now I’m a huge a fan of Hitchcock’s films and it’s clear the author knows her Hitch trivia and lore. Having a character who gives off a Norman Bates tone (thankfully sans Mother’s stuffed corpse ) in a hotel modeled after one of horror’s most famous locations along with a housekeeper who is similar to the stellar Dame Judith Anderson’s Mrs. Danvers in “Rebecca” really gave an unsettling start.

Then you meet the pretty terrible sextet of “friends” that are invited to the titular hotel. You’ve got the two married women who are clearly unhappy (one even going so far as to be an unfaithful spouse), the alcoholic, a wealthy black sheep who actually is the catalyst for the entire series of events in their shared past & then there’s the guy running from bad people cause he did something incredibly stupid. I really didn’t care for most of the group though Julius (the wealthy black sheep) actually had the most humanity to him because he actually felt guilty for what his past actions reverberated down to where we begin.

The mystery does quite a while to get going due a lot of info dumps, but it is purposeful since it leads to the unraveling of why our host has invited his former “friends” to his hotel in order to punish them for was done to him in their final college days. However once the evils start being uncovered and dirty laundry is aired, things really ramp up as you try to find out who the true villain really is. I know a couple reviews say they pegged the bad guy, but I was genuinely shocked to find out who it was and their connection to the dark secret that set this whole story in motion.

If you’re a Hitchcock fan or just enjoy a solid mystery, stick with this as it gets engaging and you’ll love noting the references to the Master of Suspense’s work

The Hitchcock theme

I loved the many twists that were totally not anticipated. All of the characters were well developed by the end.
