Drawing on the experiences of a range of companies, including Caterpillar, Sleep Number, and Whirlpool, he explains how firms can benefit from data’s enlarged role in modern business, develop digital ecosystems tailored to their unique business needs, and use new frameworks to harness the power of data for competitive advantage.

Subramaniam presents digital ecosystems as a combination of production and consumption ecosystems, which can be used by legacy firms to unlock the value of data at various levels—from improving operational efficiencies to creating new data-driven services and transforming traditional products into digital platforms. Great Book - A must read

This book highlights the urgency for legacy firms to expand their products into platforms and leverage the potential of interactive data through ecosystems. A must read for anyone who wants to know where competitive strategy is headed
with the rise of new technology and AI.

Informative but repetitive

I found this book informative with some good examples relevant for legacy firms. It show’s comprehensive thinking in evolving the business in the digital / data prevalent world. This book can use lots of editing. I thought the first 6 chapters could be condensed into one as 80% of the information was repetitive. Back half was more meaty but still can be easily cut in half.
