Escape to the picturesque, tiny town of Perfect, Indiana…

Paige Langford has it all: wealth, beauty, and ambition. Yet when her boyfriend’s betrayal costs her both her dream job and her reputation, she retreats to her brother’s rural home in Indiana to heal and figure out the rest of her life. There she meets Ryan Malloy, a gruff, hard-drinking cowboy whose surly temper can’t hide the pain in his eyes.

Ryan has lost it all. He is a man on the edge, haunted by war and a lost love, who finds solace in a bottle - until a job offer from his former commander provides a glimmer of hope, and a second chance for the future.

Paige has always avoided brooding bad boys like Ryan, yet he might be exactly what she needs, while Ryan, the man who thought he had nothing left to live for, is tempted to risk his battered heart one last time...

Normally I prefer men narrators. Men doing women's voices sounds better to me than women doing men's voices, however the narrator made it sound like simpering, whining girls talking. It reminded me of the SNL skit delta, delta, delta, which was funny on SNL but annoying for this book. That being said he has a nice voice for the rest of the book.

The book is exactly what you think it will be, happy ending and all.

It was just ok.

Another home run by Barbara Longley. A story about finding your way and learning to forgive yourself and love again. Brought tears to my eyes. Can’t wait to listen to the next one!

Heartwarming love story

I love this series I have not been able to put my Kindle down since I started reading the very first book in the series.

Another great book in the series

I like the development of the main characters; a point of view I know nothing about!

I don't think male narrator's do woman's voices as well as woman do men's voices but this narrator did a good job. the story was good and kept my interest. there wasn't any excitement but as a strictly romance novel it was a good book.

I don't usually buy books with male narrator's

This was a very nice second book to this series. I really enjoyed the story. The narration was slightly better on the first book but this performance was ok. My download had a defect in the beginning… and I will try to download it again but if I get the same issue I will return it due to the skipping track. Also, there was a ghost element that was just unnecessary in my opinion. Other than that, would I recommend this book? Yes.

Ok for #2

Would you consider the audio edition of The Difference a Day Makes to be better than the print version?

I did not read the print version

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Difference a Day Makes?

When Ryan visits the sight of Theresa's accident and says his goodbye to her.

What about Nick Podehl’s performance did you like?

He is does a great job with the male voices and tells the story well. Keeps the listener interested. He has a tendency however to make the women sound like they are talking in baby talk a little bit. I have noticed this in other books as well.

Any additional comments?

This book is far and away much better than book 1 in this series. I very much liked both lead characters. I still find Ted to be a pain and that would be fine if it helped the story line in any way but it does not. I also feel at times that some of the characters are over reacting to things. If they were on stage they would be over acting. I don't think this is the fault of the narrator either it is how it's written. Never the less. This book 2 is a huge improvement. I look forward to book 3.

Characters you care about! Good listen!

No way around it, I love Nick Podehl. He made this book come alive. Great range, great character definition and great job and projecting each of their feelings. He made me want to listen more and only sad part is that the book ended. Thank you for the pleasure.

"Five stars?" you ask. Yes!
This was to me, a realistic romance. The characters weren't 'perfect, but were decent people who wanted to behave decently. I don't have family experience of PTSD or related difficulties, but it felt like the author treated the hero's experience with compassion and respect.

The love scenes were perfect. They were a nice break from the recent glut of romance novels that inject sex scenes more concerned with being graphic and descriptive than romantic. Ms. Longley approaches these interactions with respect for both characters. Nobody was "dominant" or controlling and the female character wasn't a clueless little cluck waiting to be "mastered*. They were equal partners experiencing the joy of being together. Sweet is the word that comes to mind; but I don't mean that it was fluffy or without substance. This was sweet in the best sense

This book was shorter than I normally choose. But it was just right for this story. It occurs to me that many romance novels I've read lately would be improved by some trimming.

The narrator was very good. Love the Oklahoma drawl.

I highly recommend this book and look forward to future installments of this series.

Aaaawwww.. this is the sweetest story. I loved it!
