Motivation!

I found this book to be not just motivational but educational. It took me 1/2 of the book to get use to the narrator's nasally voice but narrator aside, i found this book to be excellent! I would recommend it to anyone not just to lose weight but with motivation in general.

The best book for losing body fat!

This book has been pivotal in helping me lose body fat despite my habits of eating healthy foods and working out 5-6x/week. This book addresses the psychology of losing fat and the influences of your social circles, goal setting and time management. More so he makes it simple to follow with enough comprehensive material to make a complete reference I've completed listening to twice.

Certainly holistic and unique perspective. Loved every chapter, every paragraph, and every perspective. Audio format made it even more enjoyable

Not exactly awe inspiring

If you've never spent much time thinking about nutrition, exercise, life, the people in your life, and how they're all interrelated, you might enjoy this book. If you're an active person, reasonably knowledgeable about nutrition and exercise and somewhat introspective, you'll be bored to tears. If you already know the 'shoulds' and you're searching for a way to get control of one or two demons, keep searching. The reader didn't help. I couldn't wait for the book to end, I was so tired of his 'preachy' style. I did rather enjoy the interview with the author at the very end, so I suspect that if he'd read it himself, it might have had a more positive impact.

Hands-off the best "diet" book written to date

What made the experience of listening to The Body Fat Solution the most enjoyable?

I've struggled with weight all my life. Although I have brief periods of good weight and training habits, I have been unable to keep the weight. This has been due to several reasons: lack of motivation for exercise (I hate sports), lack of focus and self motivation when it comes to diet and finally a confusion around which "diet" works best. So I've been experimenting with everything from low-carb, "raw food", vegan and even fasting. The secret is that almost all of these diet programs ("weird stuff" as Tom Venuto would call them) work! At least for a while, and Tom explains why that is but also why they are not long-term solutions.

This book changed everything for me, which is weird since I thought of myself as a true expert in all the details of nutrition and weight loss. It combines the best and most truthful facts and best practices into a very straight-forward method that is easy to embrace. It helps to change habits and patterns instead of promising a quick-fix. Also the book is very inspirational and boosted my self confidence and motivation.

So all in all, I've literally thrown out all other books on the subject and read The Body Fat Solution three times now, so happy that I found it.

Great book for every(body)

Would you listen to The Body Fat Solution again? Why?

I probably wouldn't listen to it again, I have the concept and the understanding I needed, and it will serve me for a lifetime. I am in good shape, I'm 52 and have always exercised regularly. I hear family and neighbors spout off about some 'certain' diet, bla bla bla, but have never heard an explanation like this, one that makes sense to me and will always be in vogue. Stop eating so much. That's it. Don't deny yourself anything, just keep it to a good portion. Start doing weight workouts (I do about 5-7/ week now). I never knew how important it was until I read this book. Without trying at all I dropped about ten pounds in two months and feel good all the time. I eat carbs, I eat cookies, I eat hamburgers, I drink beer. But not too much of any of it. It really changed my life.

Outstanding!

This is not a diet book. This is not an exercise book. This book is different and better. Tom Venuto takes a multifaceted look at how the average person can achieve the body they want in a realistic way. I'm a hypnotherapist and an Ironman triathlete and I still learned a lot from this book! The narrator is upbeat and engaging. I liked this book so much I bought the paper version to have as a reference. Highly recommended!

This is a sensible approach-food is fuel

I have lost weight in the past with extreme lowcarb, which works like crazy, but also left me with thinned hair. So that left me concerned about this approach. However, the foods eaten on this plan are not very limited. You really don't need to count carbs, but be conscious of the total calories, and get your calories from nutrient dense food.

So going into the plan, this is what I discovered: When you start eating fibrous, nutrient dense foods, you end up with little room in your diet for empty calories, and little desire for them as well, which is very helpful. If in my day I eat a big apple, a carrot, a salad, some lean chicken, a little oatmeal, a slice of cheese and whole wheat crackers, black bean soup...you end the day quite satisfied.

and you do lose weight. I'm down 17 pounds so far.

Some parts of the audio were more interesting than others, which is the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. I docked the performance stars for pronunciation mistakes, especially inconsistent ones.

It's a very worthwhile book, and if you are ready to give up empty foods or have already done so, this can extend your knowledge of how to eat, and maybe more importantly, how not to eat. Eat to fuel your body and life, and not for comfort, to fill emotional voids, etc.

nothing really new but nicely put

I like how he sums up all you need to know about managing your weight and how he doesn't sugar coat it!

Good solid, sensible advice.....

I found that his knowledge and experience shone through.

No false promises, no shortcuts just some doable solutions to helping you get to your goal.

Would you be willing to try another one of L. J. Ganser’s performances?

Definitely not, mispronounces words and is obtrusively expressive. Annoyed me immensely.
