The Battle of Thermopylae is one of the most famous battles in human history. The Best

If you are interested in the historical background surrounding the Battle of Thermopylae, this is an excellent resource. It is thought-provoking and gives a good account of the events surrounding the epic battle.

I'm Happy With It

Once I got into the book I stayed up half the night finishing. It puts Thermopylae in context as not just a heroic misadventure, but a key battle in this struggle for the survival of western civilization.

I love the author's writing style and easy-to-follow narrative of events. The reader is informed with a TON of information about the context of this conflict that is usually left out in more simplistic retellings while keeping it a well-paced and enjoyable book.

It's a good book. Most of what I thought I knew about Thermopylae was wrong. Enlightening and entertaining.

A Nice Overview

The book is somewhat hard to follow in that the Author introduces a cast of characters that almost equals the number of Spartans at Thermopylae.

This book provides an excellent overview surrounding this famous battle. It's somewhat of a summary and analysis of some of Herodotus's Histories.

This Book Has Better Analysis

I have read three books on the battle of Thermopylae, as it is one of my favorite battles in all of history. I must say, this one is by far the best, and I would be surprised if it is not considered the definitive book on this famous battle.

Simply a terrific wonderful book that every person who is interested in History and Battles and Wars should pick up.
