Acerca de esta escucha
In late 1853, Parley Pratt received a letter from his brother and fellow member of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles, Orson Pratt. Orson had committed himself to contribute to the publication of genealogical information on the descendants of their ancestor Willian Pratt, an English Puritan who had migrated to New England in the 1630s, and wanted Parley to contribute to the publication, too.
The compiler of the information, a Congregationalist minister, had asked Orson that he and Parley, known to be prominent religionists, write autobiographical sketches for the planned publication. In reply to Orson, Parley was reluctant, writing that “a mere sketch of the outlines of [my] truly eventful life would occupy several hundred pages”. In subsequent correspondence, Orson pressed Parley, praising Parley’s “interesting, easy, flowing” writing style and observing that if they worked together under the “dictations of the Holy Spirit”, they might “write something that shall hereafter prove a blessing to our brethren”. It would take four more years for Parley to write his autobiography, and it would not be published until 1874.
Parley P. Pratt’s autobiography is one of the great personal stories of early Latter-day Saint church history. It is an eventful and thrilling story of a man’s complete faith in and total commitment to the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, as well as the price he paid and the blessings he received for pursuing such a course.
The story presented in Parley’s autobiography has enthralled Latter-day Saint readers from its 1874 publication to the present day and has shaped many Latter-day Saints’ views of early church history.

On April 7, 1844, Joseph Smith gave a sermon in Nauvoo, Illinois, to nearly 20,000 church members. A few weeks earlier, a church member and close friend of Joseph named King Follett was killed in an accident. This well-known event in Nauvoo led Joseph Smith to comment specifically on Follett’s death and to address what Joseph called “[T]he subject of the dead”.

Historia
Parley P. Pratt wrote A Voice of Warning over a two-month period while on a mission to New York. The economy in Kirtland was collapsing, and dissension was rife among Church members. Even Parley became caught up in the dissension and was for a time estranged to Joseph Smith. In an act of renewal, Parley went to New York to preach the gospel and purify himself. With few doors open to him, Parley focused himself on writing, producing A Voice of Warning.

Founder of the largest indigenous Christian church in American history, Joseph Smith published the 584-page Book of Mormon when he was 23 and went on to organize a church, found cities, and attract thousands of followers before his violent death at age 38. Richard Bushman, an esteemed cultural historian and a practicing Mormon, moves beyond the popular stereotype of Smith as a colorful fraud to explore his personality, his relationships with others, and how he received revelations.

While the section headings provide context for the revelations, they don't tell the complete story. What questions prompted the revelations? What did the Lord's responses mean to those He addressed? How did they respond? Perfect for study with the Doctrine and Covenants.

Historia
Parley P. Pratt began to work on The Key to the Science of Theology in San Francisco in August 1851, just before leaving for his mission to Chile. He continued writing it while in Chile. He finished the manuscript upon his return to Utah in 1853. The manuscript remained unpublished, however, until 1855 when Parley found a publisher in England. Parley's book represented a lifetime of thought and built on ideas first propounded in Pratt's earlier writings, especially missionary tracts stemming from his years in England. The impact of The Key to the Science of Theology was unparalleled. One Latter-day Saint diarist of the 19th century observed: "We had every encouragement to read the Church publications: The Voice of Warning; the Pearl of Great Price; and Key to Theology."

As Adolf Hitler and the Nazis seduced a nation, bullied a continent, and attempted to exterminate the Jews of Europe, a small number of dissidents and saboteurs worked to dismantle the Third Reich from the inside. One of these was Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a pastor and author. In this New York Times bestselling biography, Eric Metaxas takes both strands of Bonhoeffer's life—the theologian and the spy—and draws them together to tell a searing story of incredible moral courage in the face of monstrous evil.

The Kolob Theorem written by Professor Lynn M. Hilton allows us to see more clearly the celestial home we lived in before we were born and the home we will live in after we die. These places appear more real; they are made of matter, some of very fine and pure matter, and exist in time and space. Lynn, as a man of faith, unites in a single theory, scientific evidence and sources from the standard works of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to account for the form and structure of all of God’s worlds, planets, and suns.

In Springfield, Massachusetts in 1651, peculiar things begin to happen. Precious food spoils, livestock ails, property vanishes, and people suffer convulsions as if possessed by demons. A woman is seen wading through the swamp like a lost soul. Disturbing dreams and visions proliferate. Children sicken and die. As tensions rise, rumours spread of witches and heretics and the community becomes tangled in a web of distrust, resentment and denunciation.

Historia
The 19th century was an age that witnessed great progress in many areas of exploration and learning. However, according to J. C. Ryle, it was an age of great ignorance too. What particularly distressed Ryle was the scant knowledge of the English Reformation evident amongst his contemporaries. In this lay a grave danger: one of the reasons so many congregations drift from their evangelical foundations is their sheer ignorance of Christian history, and their lack of understanding of the major doctrinal controversies and why they matter.

Historia
The Ecclesiastical History of the English People was written in Latin by the Venerable Bede (673-735), a Benedictine monk living in Northumbria, an important Christian centre in the eighth century. It is a remarkable document, tracing, in general, early Anglo-Saxon history, and in particular, as the title proclaims, the growth and establishment of Christianity against the backdrop of the political life.

It is credited with helping fuel the abolitionist cause in the 1850s. In 1855, three years after it was published, it was called "the most popular novel of our day." A thrilling and important piece of American literature!

A stunning and sure to be controversial book that pieces together, through more than two dozen 19th-century diaries, letters, albums, minute books, and quilts left by first-generation Latter-day Saints, or Mormons, the never before told story of the earliest days of the women of Mormon "plural marriage", whose right to vote in the state of Utah was given to them by a Mormon-dominated legislature as an outgrowth of polygamy in 1870, 50 years ahead of the vote nationally ratified by Congress.

Historia
Nina Sankovitch’s American Rebels explores, for the first time, the intertwined lives of the Hancock, Quincy, and Adams families, and the role each person played in sparking the American Revolution. American Rebels explores how the desire for independence cut across class lines, binding people together as well as dividing them -rebels versus loyalists - as they pursued commonly held goals of opportunity, liberty, and stability. Nina Sankovitch's new audiobook is a fresh history of our revolution that makes listeners look more closely at Massachusetts.

Historia
The technological marvel of its age, the Erie Canal grew out of a sudden fit of inspiration. Proponents didn't just dream; they built a 360-mile waterway entirely by hand and largely through wilderness. As excitement crackled down its length, the canal became the scene of the most striking outburst of imagination in American history. Zealots invented new religions and new modes of living. The Erie Canal made New York the financial capital of America and brought the modern world crashing into the frontier.

The content of this audiobook is 5 star.
The history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints as lived in all of its glory and horror by the preeminent knight of early church. No other individual gave more time to proselytizing and maintaining the efforts of missionary work and conversion for the benefit of the church. Parly P Pratt was the author of the churches first book of information arguing the legitimacy of restored Ghospel. It became a massive tool for the conversion of thousands. Prophets of the future were lead to the church due to his efforts. Listen to this audiobook and wounder how this man could maintain a nonstop relationship with roads, the wilds of nature and consistant persecution by hatefull government officials world wide.

Wow! Powerful!
I could just feel the
spirit of PP Pratt come through in this. I felt strengthened by how much he sacrificed for God & others with very little complaints. He also just matter of fact expected miracles. A trait I find so admirable.
I was sad when the book was over.
The speed of narrator was a little fast and I didn’t want to miss anything - s I slowed it down.

I felt like Bro. Pratt was in my living room
It’s a history of Parley Pratt, an apostle of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. If you enjoy that genre, you’ll love this book, the reading was wonderful I felt like Parelli was in my living room telling me the story himself. And when you’re done, go listen to a voice of warning.

The hardship’s endured are almost beyond understanding. The story line keeps you on the edge of your seat. Last few chapters something changed in Parley’s life and he no longer was a force to be reckoned with. Still all in all terrific book!
