In 1820, a young farm boy in search of truth has a vision of God the Father and Jesus Christ. Three years later, an angel guides him to an ancient record buried in a hill near his home. Wow

I loved hearing this historical account of the early Latter Day Saints and how the Church of Jesus Christ was forged from the hardships and trials of the early Saints. This is a faith filled story of hope and determination and standing with God even when an entire country conspired against them.

God back on earth with us.

When the saints came and went, God, bless every one of them. Love for the truth for all is no greater.

very interesting

I am not a Latter Day Saint but a Christian. I was always curious about their history and their beliefs. this book will share so much information especially the persecution against them which I had no idea.

Historically sad

It is sad to read about how many times the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were denied their rights as citizens of the United States.

Exceptional Historical Narrative

This is a powerfully written historical account of the experiences of the early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is well researched and frequently quotes first hand accounts. Listening to this book connected the dots for me of many historical events I was familiar with and infused my understanding with a sense of humanity and context.

This edition provides the signature cross-platform continuous listening experience of Audible, which is a welcome improvement over the freely available edition found in the Gospel Library app (which is an amazing resource in every other way). This added convenience helped me finish the book, which I had previously started twice.

if you are a fan of history or want to gain a deeper appreciation for the early Saints, this is a must-read.

Wonderful in depth history of the Restoration of Christ's church to the earth and the struggles that they went through to bring it to pass.

An Outstanding Narrative, Flawlessly Narrated

I love this book from start to finish and have listened to it multiple times. it is very accessible as it lays out the facts of the early history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I cannot say enough about Hillary Straga's performance and wish she were the narrator of every book in my library.
