As a first-year AP, I thoroughly enjoyed this read. The book covered so many questions and concerns that I had that kept me up at night. It answered so many of my questions. I highly recommend it to all APs, new and old.

“You must do everything, like I did for 5 months”

I try to listen and read as many leadership books as possible as an AP and aspiring leader. I can’t say I gathered a lot to take away except for a few takeaways. The questions are a long list of to-dos that don’t give examples or stories of why that’s meaningful or its benefit, other than the author did it or claimed how hard they worked to do it. Maybe I’m being a bit of a cynic, I love my job as AP, but the author was 5 months an AP and it sounds like they’ve composed a laundry list of to-dos that make the principals job easier while also stating at least 50 times that “you are not the principal.”
