Acerca de esta escucha

What's next for Allan Karlsson? Turns out this centenarian has a few more adventures in store....

It all begins with a hot-air-balloon trip and three bottles of champagne. Allan and Julius are ready for some spectacular views, but they’re not expecting to land in the sea and be rescued by a North Korean ship, and they could never have imagined the captain of the ship would be harboring a suitcase full of contraband uranium on a nuclear-weapons mission for Kim Jong-un. Yikes!

Soon Allan and Julius are at the center of a complex diplomatic crisis involving world figures from the Swedish foreign minister to Angela Merkel and President Trump. Needless to say, things are about to get very, very complicated.

Another hilarious, witty, and entertaining novel from best-selling author Jonas Jonasson that will have listeners howling out loud at the escapades and misfortunes of its beloved 100-year-old hero Allan Karlsson and his irresistible sidekick, Julius.

Best Jonasson yet!

The characterizations of current world leaders are priceless. Delightful and uproariously thoughtful. Thank you Mr Author!

Crazy Swedish Centenarian - Part 2

Incredibly far fetched fairytale of wonder, travel, world leaders & asparagus. The web is tangled hither & yon with a years worth of humor. Not quite as engrossing at Part 1 but maybe the uniqueness wore off a little. All in all a delightful read. I’m hoping there is a Part 3!

So.much.fun!

Another winning book by Jonas Jonasson. Good grief! I wish Alan Carlson (sp?) and his friends were my neighbors. They bring more laughs than a barrel of monkeys :) and kudos to Peter Kenny who is a marvelous narrator!

Hmmmm . . . errrrrr . . . .

This book is the ultimate proof that history is "his story.". I used to think that exclusively meant that it was up to the victors or survivors of historical happenings, but I now think there is so much more that can be blamed upon how the person looking at the information decides to interpret it. The Swedish author is decidedly pessimistic in his views. While I cannot argue that there is much bad in the world, I am of the mind that trying to find the good in things is a more productive and effective way of fixing the problems. I'm sure that some will say that humor, as this book is meant to come across as, can be effective too, and while I agree with that as well, I must point out that this is negative humor (if humor can ever be used to describe the majority of this book), which I do not consider very effective. I think what bothers me the most about this book is just how disrespectful everyone is. The is no real kindness anywhere. I can say however that the last statement in the book is fairly truthful.

not what I had hoped.

I had truly hoped for a continuation of the 1st book. The characters and plot were just not as lol funny and convoluted as the first book. As the author said in the opening comments, he wasn't planning on a sequel. It certainly felt forced.

well ...

I really enjoyed the first book. This second book was entertaining but I guess the novelty wore off to a degree. Not to say the quality has slipped, just not sure a second was wise. Allan is now 101. He has to die some time, and it would be too awful for his reader friends to have to see.

Please re-record this audiobook!

Loved the original story and audiobook. We’ve replayed it several times. This narrator however has made it extremely difficult to listen to this story. A new recording with a better reader would go a long way to improving this performance.

Comical

I personally liked the first book more, it was easier to follow and not quite as much back and forth from different characters from around the world. But, this was a very enjoyable story. I like the performance and how well the voices changed.
I’d never been interested in funny stories but now that’s all I want to listen to. Who needs drama when you can have an old man changing the course of the world by accident.

Nowhere as good as the first

The first one touches on works events in a humorous way over the 100 year man life. This one dates back to world events as late as 6/7 years ago. The only people from the original crew is the old man and the Julius. What happened to everyone else we don't know. Their not mentioned and it's now explained
