Acerca de esta escucha

He’s the last guy I should fall for.

Valley U was supposed to be my fresh start after I escaped the glitz and glam of Hollywood.

I didn’t want to be the former child star who graced TV screens across the world.

I wanted to feel normal.

When the same hot guy runs past my off-campus house every day, I assume he’s another college student.

When he protects me from boys who still think of me as the character from their teenage dreams, I think he is being kind.

When my past comes back to haunt me, he makes me feel safe.

I’m falling hard and fast for a guy I barely know.

Until I realize my mysterious new crush has a secret.

He was hired to be my undercover bodyguard.

Plain sight

Hendrix comes home to help out with his brothers so they believe. Truth is he is hiding in plain sight as the bodyguard for Jane since she came out as Ivy Green the singer. Although he tries to fight his attraction to her while trying to protect her it becomes hard. Especially when the stalker keeps finding ways to close. They navigate through their attraction and him deciding what to do about his football career. The side characters make this story even more interesting. Especially his brothers and her friends who are from previous stories. Narrators did a fantastic job.

Nice light listen

I liked the relationship between the brothers. I have a sister & I love to read dynamics between male siblings.
A light read with college shenanigans, and some stalker drama
Always love Jacob Morgan, he is incapable of narrating anything but sexy and swoon worthy. Ava Erickson always delivers a solid performance.

Nice light read/listen!

Just the perfect book to get me out of my slump. Voice actors are very easy to listen too and it’s so easy to fall in love with Hendrick!

Very slow burn 🔥

This book progressed very slowly and was kinda dragged out. Glad I caught it on sell. Narration was ok. Ava is usually good but kinda put me to sleep in this one. It just seemed like it took me forever to finish.

Stories about college kids flirting at frat parties

No self respecting adult could listen to this. In depth descriptions of beer pong games.

A Flat Landing

Well, I finally made it to the last book in the Campus Wallflowers series—and I have to admit, I wanted more.

This one follows Hendrick, the oldest of the Holland brothers (at least in terms of dynamic, if not biologically). A pro footballer who knows his career is likely winding down, he’s been away, sending money home and working private security on the side. When he returns for a break, he realizes his brothers might need him more than he thought—right as his latest security job brings him to Jane.

Jane, the last of the Wallflowers, recently had her childhood fame exposed, bringing her unwanted attention—and some mild threats that have her parents hiring private security. Enter Hendrick, assigned to protect her while she’s at Valley U.

This had all the makings of a swoony bodyguard romance, but unfortunately, it didn’t fully deliver. My favorite thing about this series has always been the friendships—the girl gang getting drunk, trying on period costumes, and just being chaotic together. That’s such a core part of the college experience, and I wish we’d gotten more of that, especially in this final book.

Instead, the story felt rushed. I wanted more character development, more backstory, more time to invest in Hendrick and Jane’s connection. The romance had potential, but I struggled with the fact that Hendrick—who is literally in charge of Jane’s safety—lets his feelings cloud his judgment. Instead of disclosing the obvious conflict of interest and stepping back professionally, he keeps it going, which just felt… immature and irresponsible.

We also get more of the Holland brothers here, which should have been great, but even their dynamic felt unresolved. So much emotional tension was left hanging, while the mystery stalker subplot took up space without really anchoring the story.

This wasn’t the strongest finale I’ve read. Maybe there are more books coming (I honestly don’t know), but I kind of hope there is, just to round things out. Because as a last book? It fell flat.

Spice: 2.5/5
Overall: 3/5
