This is the is the full sermon of Jonathan Edward's "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" with a contemporary theological introduction written by Robert J. Bagley, MA.
Referred to by theological historians as the “Most famous sermon ever preached on American soil”, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" is a sermon Jonathan Edwards preached to his own congregation in Northampton, Massachusetts, to little or no effect, and again on July 8, 1741 in Enfield, Connecticut to great effect!
It is possible that his own congregation suffered from the proverbial “familiarity often breads contempt” or the Scripture that Jesus stated in Matthew 13:57, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.” It took preaching this in someone else’s pulpit for it to have the impact it deserved. Tradition has it that many women in the Enfield congregation had been praying for revival and for this message prior to this famous sermon from the pulpit-visiting Edwards.
In fact, Edwards was not even scheduled to preach this day and was asked at the last minute to do so which is why it is said he basically buried his head in his notes and read this timeless sermon word for word. However, it was the Holy Spirit’s anointing behind the words, not the engagement of the preacher, that caused many during the sermon to interrupt with moaning, weeping, and cries of "What shall I do to be saved?"

Timeless!
What a good God we have to send his Son to spare us his wrath. Jonathan Edwards highlights this message that has carried through the ages. The reader does a wonderful job delivering this classic sermon.

Mr. Cook is magnificent in this reading of Pastor Edwards impromptu sermon foretelling sinners of their earned punishments in the hands of the demonic lying, hater of mankind, the eternal dragon. GOD wants us to take His gift spoken of in Rom 10: 9-11. Avoid Satan's hell. Get saved
by The Almighty or suffer His wrath.
