But beneath the sleepy veneer of Evingden lies a hotbed of deep-seated grievances. Confounding Littlejohn's investigation is an impressive cast of suspicious persons, each concealing their own ax to grind.

Only One Holmes Story
The most important thing about his book is that there's only one Holmes story - The Diamond Tiepin - and it's just ok. The other short stories are random pieces of realistic and/or historical fiction, which is really not what I wanted from a book that has SHERLOCK HOLMES as the main title and featured in giant letters on the cover. I ended up returning the book.
