In Rogue Star, van Huyten’s struggles continue.

Three astronauts are headed out beyond Mars on the first human trip to the asteroid belt. In orbit around Earth, a construction crew is building the first permanent space station, owned by van Huyten’s consortium. Meanwhile, the president of the United States is trying to force her into making a secret deal to put weapons in orbit so he can intervene in the ongoing wars.

Van Huyten’s plan is in place - and some people will kill to stop it.

Michael Flynn lives in Easton, Pennsylvania. He is the winner of the Robert A. Heinlein Award and was a Hugo nominee for Eifelheim.

good story

Well done. Well narrated.  will be looking forward to the next from this author. You should buy this book.

Hard to listen to and hard not to

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, the book is 45% interesting and 55% non intersting. Spends a lot of time say big goverment is bad (which it is) and that big business is good (which it is not).

great sequel to fire star

Great near-future science fiction. Listen to Fire Star first to meet the characters. Cliff hanger ending, so plan on getting the next book in the series.

The Prometheus project continues

Michael Flynn’s Rogue Star is the second installment in his Firestar series. The Prometheus project, an ambitious attempt to push humanity into space continues. While the US president is not a big space fan, he does pressure Mariessa to sue her station as a weapons platform. The People’s Crusade is beset with internal issues and a construction rigger moves into low earth orbit to help build the station. Finally, a manned mission to the asteroid belt discovers some interesting artifacts.

Flynn continues to deliver a complex storyline that is largely character driven with a near future time-line that is hyperrealistic. The action is highly credible both in terms of sci-fi elements as well as the personal and societal responses to the action.

The narration is excellent with solid character distinction. Pacing is smooth and a tad brisk.
