A good author handicapped by the limitations of the genre

Anything by Kate Heartfield is worth a look. She does a great job making characters well rounded humans who do their best despite their flaws. She is a master of historical fiction where the setting is a big part of the story. However, writing as part of a larger story means that the battle between the pseudo-fascist Templars and the pseudo-anarchist Brotherhood can never be resolved. That makes it hard to drive the plot forward if everything ends in permanent stalemate.

If you liked this book, read The Chatelaine and your mind will be blown.

Good characters, weird pace

Like most AC media it's overall very decent. Good characters, but the constant timeskips take a lot away from the tension. Could use a little more breathing room

Arguably better than the first.

Compared to The Magnus Conspiracy, though the story was much more grounded, Resurrection Plot pulls on threads of deep lore of the Assassin’s Creed Series and continues a conspiracy thought resolved. The story is action packed, longer-there are many time skips than the previous entry-and gives the story more meat and rounds out characters and their decisions. Characters from AC Syndicate make an appearance, and introduce the consequences of their actions onto the world, in which was an awesome revelation for a fan that’s played and beaten that particular game (feels as though I’m the reason for some of the happenings in the book). I do recommend this any fan of the games and anyone that enjoys a good read or a good listening from the one and only Moira Quirk.

Keeps Your Attention

This was an interesting read, overall. I did not mind the time skipping so much, as it felt like progress more than missing out on details. I found myself so caught up in the moment to moment situations and characters that I didn't realize until very late in the book that nothing was really getting resolved. The never ending war between both sides is a given (if it ended they couldn't sell more books and games lol), but the specific plot to this book felt untouched or unaddressed for so long due to everyone's right-here-right-now missions. In the end, I do feel there was great closure and the author actually buttoned it all up quite nicely.
