Sydney Whitmore, a forensic psychologist living in San Francisco, moves home to Shipwreck Island, and the resort owned and operated by her family, after tragedy strikes leaving her struggling for a way to make sense of things. In book 1 in the series, a group of ten high school students go camping but only eight return. The statements those who've made their way back have told to Sheriff Sam Stone are so different as to be completely useless. Syd has experience getting the truth out of people so she agrees to help Sam weed though the witness statements to find the truth both are certain exists beneath the lies. Meanwhile Syd's middle sister Emily has started a new lifestyle blog, her youngest sister Rory is fostering kittens, and Syd renews her relationship with Kelly Green, an FBI analyst she first met while working for the FBI on the East Coast.

In book 2 in the series, Syd is asked to help a man regain his memories after showing up a decade after he went missing with no memory of where he'd been since disappearing from his home when he was eight. Meanwhile, she continues to look for answers relating to Riley's attack, which seems an impossible task, until Kelly invites her to a meeting with Ezra's group who all pitch in to offer insight.

In book 3 in the series, it's Halloween and Sydney joins Ezra and his group as they take on an old murder case where the suspected killer has been caught and convicted although Ezra has reason to believe he may be innocent as he has claimed from the beginning. Meanwhile, Sam asks Syd and Kelly for input on a case, Syd's friend Riley comes home after months in the hospital, Emily is faced with a nearly impossible decision, Rory has puppies to foster, and Logan settles into life on the island.

Good story, fair narration

Enjoyed the story lines and character development in all 3 books. The narrator has a pleasant voice, but the main difference was change of pitch among the girls. It did come across whiny or too little girl at times.

love the series

I have read most if not all the books in this series and loved them. I drive transport for the railroad sand listen to audio books while driving, so I decided to listen to the series. I was very disappointed in the narration. she sounded stiff, did have the natural flow you have while talking to someone. You could tell it was being read. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I love all of Kathi Daley's series and was hoping for an enjoyable listen as much as it was enjoyable to read.

I highly recommend this box set series of Resort at Castaway Bay , it was really good all three books . The narrator Angel Clark was very good too.

Narrator

Angel Clark, makes listening to books she narrates, excruciating! She makes all the characters sound like teenage whiney brats that baby talk! I can't take it!
