Acerca de esta escucha

Princess Rheanna's self-esteem shattered when her former fiance unexpectedly ended their betrothal. Years later, the rejection continues to haunt her, and now that she's faced with yet another unwanted political engagement, Rhea will do anything to avoid another heartache.

When a mysterious lure draws Rhea to an abandoned turret of the palace, she discovers a magic mirror and is shocked to find a snarky man trapped inside. Although she agrees to help break Drake's curse, things quickly grow complicated, for not only does she begin to fall in love with him, but breaking a curse proves quite difficult when she herself feels trapped - by her own self-doubts.

Rhea and Drake's relationship sets in motion a series of events that threaten both herself and her kingdom. As she seeks to unmask the evil within the palace and overcome the poisonous doubts consuming her mind, Rhea must make a difficult choice between the path she's expected to walk and the man she's forbidden to love. But the more time she spends with Drake, the less convinced she becomes that doing her duty will be worth the sacrifice it will cost her heart.

Get your tissues out

I am a fan of Camille’s books. But this book was quite enduring. I really felt the Princess’s pain and truly thought, how Princess was going to fix this major conflict. I love it from beginning to end.

The best book in this series!

The narrator never fails to keep one engaged. This story is face paced, and the slow burn romance makes it more realistic. I really enjoyed the unique pieces of fairy tales woven into this fantasy. Both main characters grow quite a lot throughout, which I always appreciate. There is ample grace and forgiveness for others, too. Please get this book if you like this series. It is worth it!

Biased reviwe:frustrated with Rhea and princes (not enough character growth maybe)

I only rated low due to personal feelings on the characters. But if I wasn't biased it would be a 5 out of 5
i was for the story up until the Queen began to get to me. Maybe I'm just not used to characters connecting dots supremely slow for a while. I tried to stick with it, I truly but once I got to chapter 26, I couldn’t stomach Rheas monologuing about the queen or the lack of plans. And it takes a lot for book to do that. I have few books idling away because a character irritated me and waiting for me on my shelf.
maybe I just cant relate to Rhea in the way i do other female protagonists or something because I really wanted to enjoy this story, or maybe there was just too much inaction between all characters to thwart the Queen.
But i literally had to jump 6 chapters, to chapter 32. because i couldn't deal with the whole "i don't know how to thwart the queen", duty this and duty that, when saying "hey. the queen is threatening me, briar and drake to marry in her way with war. how do we resolve this in a way that still let me marry my man without a political incident ", could have helped.
i know the characters are like 18 or somewhere around that age, but i didn't think royal duty was allowing yourself to be threatened with twlling your monarch, who are your parents.
and what the purpose of bringing an extremely important book to a main characters attention just to have her forget for weeks and seeminly forget about a misterious illness.
i mean the queen gave so many hints about her intentions when she "studied" mulvagareas royal history and we learned a fun trivia fact there, and that she's been trying to set up 2 political marriages for years.
i can't say if I was Rhea things would have been clear, but she had so many warnings, and never talked to anyone after she vanquished her insecurities.
and yeah, I haven't been teen in about a decade, but if I had parents i feel like I would have talked (and I'm from home where I don't feel comfortable sharing with my parents even now. Never shared a drop of external trauma with them. but i would of if they had been like Rheas).
i guess maybe all the stories I'm used to are just strong-willed girls buried, and maybe I dislike Rhea more so because she is a form of representation of me and the Mulvagarean Queen more like my father and I dislike it.
But i also felt that once Drake was free there should have been more character changes. But it just seemed to repest the things many times over.
Anyways if you read my review this far and still want to read, i recommend reading up chapter 26 [especially if you feel frustrated or irritated and skip to the end of chapter 31 beginning of chapter 32] I personally don't feel like I missed much out side of lots of monologuing and self denial and letting the queen win sort of talks because their IQ in trying to defeat the Queen is blinding them all.. >.>
i really want to love the series, so hopefully Rhea is the only frustrating girl I need to deal with.
