A great readable book by and true intellect

A lot of books by experts in certain fields are written above most readers understanding. This one is very readable while not lacking great insights. Worth the read

Okay audio book

It was an okay listen. The narration was good and the information was well received.

Exceptional depth

This is my third book by this author. I find that she does excellent research and provides such incredible depth and imagery. If you wanna understand the biblical times of Jesus of the Jewish culture during the first century A.D. and understand the scriptures that Jesus would’ve read this is the best of Thor I’ve ever found. I recommend this and all other books by her.

I just love the way she writes and breaks it down. I feel that I’m reading the Bible for the first time.

this whole trilogy of books has been the single most important and impactful resource for dissecting and determining my Christian education in the last decade. please pick up the physical copies if you can.

Lois while an academic and intellectual of some considerable distinction, she has a PHD in biology, nonetheless shows an unbelievable plasticity and making her mind equipped to deal with many different focuses, and simultaneously gives the reader the opportunity to do the same to walk through this journey with her. there are very few definite answers, however this is what she has been trying to explain in all three of her books, the journey is your faith not the correct answers. ( I understand I'm doing a poor job of explaining this, I mean in brief that she denies the gnostics in thinking that right reasoning is the only way to know God truly).

If I could boil down the emphasis of this book into a single sentence it would be this: read your Bible. while this sounds like common sense to anybody who has been in the Christian faith for any length of time the Brilliance of it is that we must be prepared to look at it as it was originally written. one cannot, I repeat cannot truly hope to know God without knowing the culture that his first people had.

I learned so much with this audiobook. Next time through I'll take notes and have my Nible handy.

A needed help for this Westerner

I was amazed as I heard the cultural background of familiar Bible text! I have now purchased the paper copy of the book and will use it as a Bible study tool to go deeper as I meditate on God's word. I recommend this title, regardless of how long you been saved. It is sure to give you 'fresh eyes and ears' as you read, study and meditate.

An easy yet helpful guide to a deeper understanding

An excellent aid to the modern student of Scripture. It may be helpful to listen to her book that precedes this one; however, it’s not mandatory.
