WOW - I have to say I was well into the book before I discovered Barbara Stanny was not the narrator of her own audiobook – because her confessional story was relayed so matter-of-fact, so brazenly honest and down-to-earth that it didn't feel like an actor was narrating it.

From the minute she opened up about her "charmed life" to its unexpected financial unraveling – I kept nodding my head that I, too, had the same exact experiences: head-down-on-the-desk, mental incomprehension fatigue, and brain tune-out around finances whenever the idea of reading financial paperwork or listening to spin about this stock or mutual fund was presented. She reassures you that there is nothing wrong with you if you don't understand financial speak – or if you feel like a dummy who has spent your life wondering if you were ever going to be good at responsible investing – or continue to delegate your power over to anyone who seems like a financial savior – instead of a financial educator who should be working alongside you to educate you about what will help YOU reach YOUR goals.

She says most women don't have a clue as to what we want as we are so used to taking care of other people's needs that we never really take the time to think about our own needs. I totally related to this. If asked, I usually say, "I don't know - what do you think? Tell me what you think my investing goals should be." If you have been fearful of doing the wrong thing, losing money, or giving your power away to someone else to "handle it" (while you stick your head in the sand and hope it works out), this book could change your life. If you feel that you are always doing and/or getting it Wrong, Wrong, Wrong, and then some - don't delay and grab a listen.

The entire book was a love letter of acknowledgment and FORGIVENESS and HOPE that follows Maya Angelou's famous quote: "When we know better, we do better." Kim Niemi's narration is quick, no-nonsense, and practical although I wish she slowed down a tad - but she was relatable and compelling - kind of like Congresswoman Katie Porter with a Financial Education Audible Whiteboard of tips & resources – as well as sharing powerful stories from many smart, professional and successful women she interviewed who shared their massive money mistakes (many made and/or had money but never did anything with it because they were too scared) and strategies they learned (rarely are you born with this knowledge) – as they ventured to take control of their own financial destiny. Just starting to take the tiniest steps eventually helped them financially thrive.

If you've ever have had any shame around past money mistakes, feeling inept or clueless to understand anything financial - you can relax and take a breath because are in Barbara's expert company - where you can get financially educated and a bit savvier about investing and handling money which will leave you inspired to try again.

Should be required reading for all girls.

the should be required reading for all girls. Wish I had known about it sooner. Somethings in the book may be a little dated or out of date but it still has practical information and growing your money. I highly recommend this book. will be sharing it with my daughter.

If I could rate this book zero stars I would!

The first hour of this book is just this woman letting you know how incredibly ignorant she is. Everything in this book you can find from a more engaging source, one that doesn’t make you feel like your brain cells are slowly dying.
