Ho hum

Mostly a good courtroom drama but long, slow stretches. I made it to the predictable end, somehow.

Excellent

Great read. Narration by Edward Herman might be better than the actual writing of the book, but it's close. Can only hope that Mr Turows other works come anywhere close to being this good.

Incredible

Years after I first read this book, i decided to revisit it. Edward Hermann lends a gravity and seriousness to this exploration not only of the law, and the fight for a man's life, but also probes nearly aspect of human feeling and depravity. Family dynamics, and all that is said and unsaid, is better explored here than in any novel I have ever read
I consider Turow one of the 4 or 5 greatest 20th century. American novelists Enough said.

Too obvious

One-fifth into the book, the killer was obvious. Kept waiting for an interesting twist that never happened. Characters bland. Disappointed.

The narrator was fantastic. He was very easy listen to. The story plot was a little opaque but overall a good read.

Well Written - Good Suspense

I really enjoyed this book and realized that I had actually read it many years ago. I really liked all the main characters, the narration, and the concept of the story. It was laid out perfectly, and an easy 5* star for me.

X-Rated, Good Characters, Poetic Prose

Normally a book like this is one I quickly recommend to friends and family. But the very graphic scenes make me hesitant to do that. If that doesn't bother you, then you should enjoy this one. I can't imagine another narrator doing a better job with this book... a perfect fit for the author's toughtful, almost poetic writing. The first person perspective added a nice touch, since few are done that way these days. While I suspected who dunnit very early in the book, it still kept me interested and not quite sure until the end.

Loved this book for all the rich details. I love that I figured out the killer before it was announced. Made me feel involved
