Acerca de esta escucha
As is often the case with God, he’s chosen the most unlikely of persons to write this book. I haven’t been to seminary. I don’t have a doctorate in theology. I am a simple man. But a man who’s been with Jesus for the past 40 years. A man who has been compelled to write down what I’ve learned during that time. If there is any wisdom in my words or any insight to be gained, it is because of God’s Holy Spirit and his inspiration.
This book isn’t typical of Christian writings. It isn’t a lesson plan, although I suppose some lessons could come from it. It’s not a story that has a beginning and end. And although I’ve been following Jesus and learning for 40 years, I only began writing down my thoughts over the past 10 years or so. Some of my reflections were written as blog posts. Others were emails I sent to men in my small group. Many of them challenge the status quo. Some are written as short stories, and there are even notes from three of my sermons included in this book. In some ways, it reads like a journal or a diary. Because of the multiple sources, these writings are not chronological.
These writings are, in many cases, personal, a baring of my soul so to speak. Ultimately, my goal in writing this book is to have whoever reads these words ponder God with me. These are some of my reflections during my 40 years of following Jesus.
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14
