Acerca de esta escucha

What is the Siege Perilous, and how does it affect the lives of everyone in the Regency universe of "Pride & Prejudice"?
When a man dressed in strange attire falls to earth in a field on his Pemberley estate, Fitzwilliam Darcy has little inkling of the many and startling changes this mysterious man’s arrival will have on his life, his family’s lives, and indeed, his whole world.
Set in the Regency world of "Pride and Prejudice," this refugee from a future Armageddon is befriended by Darcy. Will the presence of Major Edward McDunn influence the events of Jane Austen’s signature work, especially the tangled courtship between Darcy and the complex and endearing Elizabeth Bennet?

An alternative universe for P&P

That was wonderfully narrated by Benjamin Fife. His narration made the book even better.

Be prepared for a totally new but yet the same P&P world. This involves a one way time / world travel for our primary main character, McDunn. I love that he was dropped directly into his favorite Austen story or so he thought. I enjoyed seeing the similarities and differences to the original and it was well done. It was funny to see how Darcy and Elizabeth came together. This will be one I read / listen to again.

P&P Goes Sci-Fi Time Traveling

I love a good sci-fi story, and I love Jane Austen, so this book was a natural choice for me to read when it was first published. However, when the author chose a really talented voice actor like Benjamin Fife to narrate it, this audiobook fan was one happy listener. Mr. Fife adds color and emotion to the many wonderfully written scenes, from the Arthurian magician’s rescue of our war-wounded Southern hero in 2045, to aristocratic Darcy and Col. Fitzwilliam’s discovery of said hero in Regency England, to Elizabeth Bennet’s heartbroken months living with her unfeeling harping mother and her furious reaction to Lady Catherine’s shrieking vitriol. Elizabeth’s unrestrained angry encounter with Mr Bennet is especially well done, and it was a long time in coming.

There are a few mature-ish parts, but nothing explicit to wring your handkerchief over.

I know this audiobook will be one that I re-listen to, and I recommend it to listeners who appreciate something a little off the well traveled path.

Brilliant!

I purchased this book on a whim and I'm so glad I did. Original premise, interesting characters, good storyline and satisfying ending.
My only criticism is that the time leading up to Elizabeth and Darcy finally coming together as a solid couple was drug out a bit too much. I wanted to smack sense into both of them cause it seemed so dumb to willfully doddle to that excruciating extent.
The new male character added such an entertaining flavor to the story. Fun to see how his existence changed events. I was pleasantly surprised by his idea that led to the unforseen ending.
Well done!
