History and Origins
Ancient Practices: Hypnotherapy has ancient roots that can be traced back to the earliest civilizations. In ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome, priests and healers used trance states for healing purposes. The sleep temples of Egypt are one of the earliest recorded uses of hypnosis, where people would go to seek relief from various ailments through dream therapy. These temples were designed to induce a state of relaxation and deep rest, often through the use of repetitive chants, music, and rhythmic movements.
