Very substantive for this type of book

I have friends who question why I read political fluff biographies. Many of them are light on substance and clearly designed as campaign material rather than a thorough book. Senator Scott has put together a compelling narrative that weaves into a clear political philosophy and policy agenda. There's a lot I disagree with in the book, especially when it comes to President Trump. But at their best, these books help you to get to the core of a person in public life, and Scott does that well in this book.

Of particular interest are the ways he talks about racism in the United States, and how he highlights the importance of hiring a diverse staff for his office, including people with intellectual or physical disabilities. Amidst a lot of culture war nonsense and political BS, it was refreshing to read an actual agenda and vision - even if I strongly agreed with some of the content.

Sen. Scott also does a pretty good job narrating. His words slow way down at certain points, which was weird. But over-all this is worth a listen.
