Acerca de esta escucha

Her city is under siege.

The zombies are coming back.

And all Nona wants is a birthday party.

In many ways, Nona is like other people. She lives with her family, has a job at her local school, and loves walks on the beach and meeting new dogs. But Nona's not like other people. Six months ago she woke up in a stranger's body, and she's afraid she might have to give it back.

The whole city is falling to pieces. A monstrous blue sphere hangs on the horizon, ready to tear the planet apart. Blood of Eden forces have surrounded the last Cohort facility and wait for the Emperor Undying to come calling. Their leaders want Nona to be the weapon that will save them from the Nine Houses. Nona would prefer to live an ordinary life with the people she loves, with Pyrrha and Camilla and Palamedes, but she also knows that nothing lasts forever.

And each night, Nona dreams of a woman with a skull-painted face...

Best of the three.

What a great read. I’m can’t wait to see how the series ends. This was my favourite of the three so far. The near constant mystery is placated with amazing characters. A unique and captivating story.

A confusing and ultimately unfulfilling third book

First I'd like to say that I love this series, or at least I did. By far my favorite is the first book. It was understandable that the second book introduced a lot of mysteries but at this point I would have liked something resolved. Instead it introduces entirely new characters whose connection to the major plot is unclear until the very end, and even then they don't really have anything to do with the plot. They're just there to see it.

Don't get me wrong, it's well written. It's engaging. But a major part of the plot revolves around a bunch of middle school kids and their teacher on a war-torn planet. The other half of the book is flashbacks exploring the history of how the setting came to be, the major players, the series of events, and so forth. But it all ends up world building and character development takes a back seat.

The timeline is also a jumbled mess. When does this book take place? Is it concurrent with Harrow the 9th? Some parts of it seem to be concurrent and some parts of it seem to be afterwards. Never mind the fact that the ending of the second book seems to have been retconned somewhere along the way. It feels like there should be a book between the second book and this book and it's intensely frustrating.

There are a myriad of new characters, or old characters with new names, and characters that act completely different from what they did in the previous books and there's no explanation for why. Never does the book answer the question of why we should care about the majority of these characters.

I'm not buying the fourth book until someone can tell me that we get some answers about something. It doesn't need to be all the answers, but things just need to be explained and recapped in a way that makes sense.

Noodle and Hot Sauce

Ongoing saga that was definitely entertaining and keeping with the theme of “what in the holy hell is going on?” Still, I am in for the final installment. That’s the mark of a great story, keeping you in.

Happy birthday Nona

I sobbed through most of Nona's end. Moira Quirk is amazing as always and I'll continue to listen to pretty much anything she does. Still very confused (as always at the end of one of these - answers just lead to more questions, or are answers to things I wouldn't think to ask) and I can't say I wouldn't have enjoyed a bit more Gideon and Harrow, but absolutely loved it.

Once again purposely confusing

This book like the last book is disorienting at the start of the story. Thankfully not as bad as the last book but still. I enjoyed the book and there is a lot of good world building but I just wish there was more story plot then there was.

Moira is incredible!

What an amazing experience this was. Nona the Ninth is a fantastic book, and Moira Quirk did a phenomenal job narrating it. All the characters have unique voices that match their personalities perfectly! I recommend this is to any Locked Tomb fan.

great but not excellent

The story is great continuation but can get confusing at times with character identification it is best to pay utmost attention. Not a book to listen to at the gym or doing chores needs full attention

Loved it from start to finish

I absolutely loved it! So far, we've had the same narrator for all 3 books in the series, which is fantastic. She does such a wonderful job bringing the story to life. The story itself is phenomenal, and I can't wait for the next book! I have so many questions, and my friends and I are all buzzing with theories.

Fewer bones, a but more autism, still superb

Consistently excellent and hilarious. Each book has been a fresh take on the universe and is pleasingly mysterious and puzzling, beginning in media res and gradually unveiling the bizarre mess that got everyone here. Nona is adorable without being twee and the lore drops are tantalizing and paced expertly. The combination of Tamsyn Muir's writing and Moira Quirk's narration is one of the most perfect pairings in all of Audible. I waited a week to listen to the last hour or so just because I didn't want it to be over.
