You get lost in the story as you listen. Carey did a great job pulling you in and keeping you entranced.

Page-Turner

My husband and I deliver papers to post offices and businesses throughout the night. This book kept us wide awake and made the time pass right by. I was quite amused when every time he’d get back in the van, he’d say “story,story”. Melissa Carey did a great job with the character’s voices too. Angels at the Gate by TK Thorne will be our next delivery book. Love reading together.

Noah’s wife is set in 5500 BCE. Yes, Noah’s wife is mentioned in the bible along with the great flood and other characters that are angry, sad, lonely, faithful, struggling, and the list goes on. So why listen to this book?

Noah’s Wife is an exciting book that deals with issues in 5500 BCE AND today – the struggle of women to be more than second class citizens, morality and ethical issues, cultural issues and even dating! Since before 5500 BCE women have struggled to be more and men have struggled on how to be with a strong woman. Time has not changed the issues at all!

Using the great flood, T. K. Thorne presents unique twists to the story by focusing on Noah’s wife. This fictional accounting of the great flood and story about it is exciting. Noah’s wife, Na’amah comes from a severely dysfunctional family, dealing with the love of two men that have disastrous results and Na’amah also has the burden of dealing with what is now known as Asperger Syndrome.

Listening to Na’amah’s life as told through her voice one recognizes the naiveté in the beginning, by the end of the book naiveté has been replaced with strength and knowledge. Her struggles resound with those of us today.

T.K. Thorne is an excellent story teller; building her plot and characters to great depths showing who they are, what they think – giving us, her listeners a unique experience. As a piece of fiction, she skillfully mixes in historical pieces that are well known. Her skill to blend the incidents and story together are expert.

I had the pleasure of both reading Noah’s Wife and listening to it. The audiobook is excellent as Melissa Carey, narrator, projects the right amount of naiveté and confusion in Na’amah’s voice growing it to the strength she gains by the end of the book due to her experiences. Within a few moments of listening, I heard Carey become Na’amah! This narration brought the book to life!

I highly recommend this book as a must listen! You will be transported to 5500 BCE between the skill of Thorne and Carey. You will feel the pain, joy, and growth of this unique woman.

There were no issues with production quality. Everything was perfect with the audio.

Na'amah. Her inner strength and intelligence is phenomenal.

What does Melissa Carey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She becomes Na'amah by showing her innocence and growing her into the strong character she becomes.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Na'amah recognizes the true purpose behind her brother's anger and hatred.

This is a rare book that should not be missed. It is about a Christian event but by no means is it a preachy Christian novel. The focus of the book is beyond that - it deals with issues that have plagued women since the beginning of existence.

An Epic Journey

Noah’s Wife by T.K. Thorne is an epic journey through one woman’s life that captivates the reader from the very first page. One thing I’d like to say is that this is not a Bible based story. It is a biblical novel in that Noah is one of our characters but it is more about the fictional tale of the life his wife might have had, keeping in mind that absolutely nothing is known of Noah’s wife in the bible. T.K. Thorne has built an amazing world with memorable characters and a story not soon forgotten.

Na’amah’s only wish in life is to be a shepherdess in the hills of Turkey. It is where she feels most comfortable and free. Na’amah doesn’t fit in with her people as she has Aspergers although that wasn’t known at that time in history. As with most women of that time Na’amah’s life wasn’t her own as she battled with understanding why her brother hated her while also being blessed with the love of two men. However Na’amah’s path to a peaceful life is a rocky one. She endures a disturbing incident that causes her to run away from all she’s ever known and in doing that she gets kidnapped. This really is the beginning of Na’amah’s journey to learning about herself and awakening to her world. The journey brings to light the separation of people in worshiping either Father God or Mother Goddess and I found it all very fascinating.

Na’amah is a wonderful character. Despite the challenges she has with her illness she still possesses a great strength within her and many gifts she struggles to understand. The relationship with her best friend Yanner who loved her was a beautiful one as was her life with Noah. One of my favorite characters was Na’amah’s grandmother Savta. Though she was a woman she still had a voice and she protected Na’amah with her life. I finished this book days ago and the characters are still alive in mind – that’s when I know I’ve read something memorable.

Noah’s Wife is a beautifully written novel and so well researched. The author did a wonderful job of bringing this time and place alive for her readers. I listened to the audiobook which was narrated by Melissa Carey and I thought she did a really good job. At first I wasn’t so sure about her for the telling of this story but it wasn’t long until I realized she was just perfect for it. Noah’s Wife is a novel that I enjoyed a great deal and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend!
