The narrator saves the story

I was slogging through the print version when I remembered that KU books sometimes come with audiobooks. So I switched over. The narrator is good. The story is okay. It’s not a particularly deep mystery or even a satisfying feeling to solve. I don’t think I’ll bother with the rest of the series. But I will likely look for the narrator again.

Story was fine but...

The plot was good, decent mystery, but it was hard to like the main character. I don’t know if it was the character or the narrators impression, but the main was whiny and annoying.

Great book

Great book, listened to whole thing in a day. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because the narrator was terrible.

Next Girl to Die is worth listening or reading

The narrator did well. Had plenty of inflection in her voice. Was worth my time.

Just average

The author was overly descriptive to the point of being repetitive which I found to be really annoying.
I also didn't care for the narrator who over dramatized and at some points felt like she war yelling.
The story itself was just so-so. Don't think I'd listen to another in this series.

Maybe not for me

The story is ok, but if you like authentic police procedurals this will likely drive you nuts. I couldn’t find one thing to like about the heroine or her love interest. it wasn’t a terrible book, some parts were enjoyable.

Great Book

The narrator was very good. She kept me interested chapter after chapter. Can't wait to start the next book.

Potential for strong female character fell short

Don’t know if it was dialogue or reader but... main female character was portrayed as defensive and angry. Was going to give up on book but sloughed through. Romance weaved into story was at odds with way main character was portrayed . Did not flow at all. Would be a good character for future novels if more consistency was worked on throughout whole plot.

Great detective story

Detective Claire Calderwood has returned to the small island of her childhood to solve the murder of a young girl. The similarities are striking between this victim and that of her sister, 16yrs ago. When the bodies of girls begin to pile up, Claire realizes that she has a serial killer on her hands. Then the killer set his sights on Claire! With the help of journalist, Noah, Claire begins to unearth information from several years ago, leading her to believe that this killer has been on the hunt for more years than originally thought. While some parts of the story did seem to drag, overall it is a good detective story. Will be looking forward to more in the series.

Good book, didn't like the narrator

I liked this book but I didn't enjoy the narrator. I liked the story and I would love to read more by this author but the narrator was the issue for me.
