Ugh

I honestly thought this book was a waste of time.
Many unanswered questions. I wouldn’t waste your money.

Reading this book is more devastating than listening to it.

I really like this book for the originality of an end-of-days book. The audio version losses some of the impact that reading the book brought. After reading the book I wondered at the world and what to do with myself afterwards. Very well written and suggest this book to anyone who prefers to listen to books than read them. The narrator is good, but there are some parts where the audio seems distant or the narrator uses an off voice for the characters. I still feel this is a good rendition of the book.

Good book! Enjoyed it. Then the end just kinda sucked, it was like he couldn’t think of any thing else to write.

best book I never want to read again

Adrian Barnes tells a tale of decent for humanity in way that was done so perfectly I could see it happening. MC was relatable to me and everything had this feeling realness to it. By my counts a masterpiece, I just don't want to read it again because how bad it messed with my mental state.

Excellent story and good performance

The performance was almost perfect. The tone is a little bland, but he's consistent, and diverse in his characters. The story was excellent and didn't waste any time getting to the point. The only thing that I didn't like was the narrow focus of the story, considering the scope of the issue. There was much more story to tell, and at the end you are left wanting more of it. I would definitely like to see more stories based in this world.

Under rated but not for every one

There hasn't been only two reviews on this book from what it looks like, one disappointed and the other in the middle so for the third I'll say I loved it. Very sad but very intriguing.

I highly recommend this book! it is fantastically written, the author paints a very descriptive image of this world... words can't describe it .well they can but you'll have to read the book.

Honestly I wish I enjoyed it

This book starts out with a great narrative. What a wonderfully horrific concept: to have the whole world not sleep and to see how humanity can fall apart so quickly is a great idea for a book. However, the writing is so randomly all over the place. The use of context is lacking where needed, and overused to describe simplistic narration. The mixture of vulgar, simplistic teen romance novel, and eloquent verbiage is...weird. You get a sense that the writer wanted to convey one thing and describes another. The novel itself is lacking creativity, and so often is simply boring, yet at times is thrilling and engaging. I'm not going to say it's the worst thing I've ever read, but it is surely not high on the list. The ending leaves much to be desired and just kind of ends without any explanation of 5 of the main characters or how they will be moving forward. So many anchors of the plot are left unanswered. Lastly, one of my biggest complaints is that of the text. It is mind numbing how so many large words and vast a vocabulary can leave someone so confused. I understand the vocabulary. What it seems like is that the author just used a thesaurus to make the novel seem more advanced when it really isn't. 3/10 overall. Wouldn't recommend anyone take the time. Thankfully the narrator knows what he's doing.

I wanted to like it

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I saw this at Barnes and Noble and as someone who has insomnia, I was intrigued. I read the first chapter there, then decided to get it on Audible since I commute on Fridays and Mondays about 3 hours and would give me something to listen to.

I don't like the narrator's voice at all. It annoyed me. I also did not really like the story. I felt like there could have been so much more done with this book. I stopped at Chapter 8. There was still almost 4 hours left of the book and I don't think I'll be finishing it. The other reviews praised this book, but I found it boring.

I just wish it had been better. I love stories of this genre and this was definitely not worth it for me.
