Kennedy and her best friend, Cherae, were like "two peas in a pod", Kennedy's daddy would say because they were tighter than a large man in a medium suit jacket. Although they were totally different in size, personality, and background, they had been friends and loved each other since the second grade. Tables turned for their friendship when that evil word "jealously" came between them over a sexy club owner named Julian Roberson.

One night led this duo down an ugly road that Kennedy never wanted to travel on and a road on which Cherae never imagined she'd lose. Cherae opened up a can of pain on Kennedy, and after more than 25 years of friendship, one man caused it to fall apart.

Not knowing what to do or who to trust, Kennedy sought support from her true friend, Teresa, who had tried to warn her about her life long pal Cherae many times before. When the smoke clears and the truth finally comes to light, they learn a lesson in friendship, love, and loyalty.

Great story, horrible narrator!

This has to be the most awful narrator I have ever listened to on Audible. I almost returned the book but the story was so good that it kept my interest.

Book was okay. Was expecting more from Anna Black as an author. Narrator was horrible tho

Great book, but….

The book was awesome! But the narrator was horrible! Ms.Black police do not ever have this particular narrator do another performance for you! I loved the story and, all of the intricate details that you always put in your books. I wanted to return this book just because of the horrible narration. When listening to an audible book, the narrator can make it or break it.

WOW....SMH

The plot was an excellent idea to me....however, the execution and narration both were terrible. The overall story was about a young lady (Kennedy)that came from a very good background...loss her mother to cancer when she was a teenager...grew up with her father and 2 uncles....had the same best friend since she was 7 years old...best friend (Cher) came from a substance abuse single mother....now that ladies are in their early 30's and Kennedy is doing very well for her self...but, she continues to bail Cher out of all of her sticky situations. Kennedy even allows Cher to briefly move in, which turns into 3 years....Kennedy falls in love with Julian and Cher goes after him....you probably can figure out the rest....let just say, it takes Kennedy a while before she believes that Julian is innocent (and he really is)....If the narration had been better, I think I could've rated this story a little better.
