Acerca de esta escucha

An acclaimed guide to understanding today's Muslim, completely updated

Carl Medearis provides new insights into the top questions people have about Muslims and Islam. With practical information and fascinating stories, he shares culturally sensitive ways for Christians to get to know Muslims on a personal level. In this updated and expanded edition, Medearis shares

  • How more and more Muslims live "right next door", and how we can overcome the growing level of misinformation and fear
  • The roots of modern-day jihad and how recent developments in the Middle East affect the West
  • A new chapter answering tough questions about terrorism, Christian converts, and other key topics

Medearis shows how common ground is the best foundation for hearts turning to Jesus rather than focusing initially on the differences between Islam and Christianity.

Learning to Love Our Neighbors

Carl Medearis captures an essential component to fully Following Jesus: Loving the One God and loving our neighbors like ourselves. Yet too many "religious" people become tied up in their traditions and practices, to the detriment of learning about others. MUSLIMS, CHRISTIANS AND JESUS is a quick read, filled with practical tips based on his decades of experience living among and loving Muslims. Respecting Jesus (Isa), the Messiah-Christ, is a common ground, or bridge, to sharing what we have in common. Rather than focusing on our differences, these two expressions of monotheistic faith can be united in common values for the good of all those around us. Furthermore, Followers of Jesus, the Messiah-Christ, also have confidence that the Spirit of the One God is truly a transformative power, improving the lives of all humankind.

The book is also an excellent resource for small group discussions for those seeking to be good neighbors with our Muslim neighbors. There is so much more we share in common than divides us.

Eye-Opening

If I could give this book Infinite stars I would. I liked how the author gave references from the Qur’an that agree with references from the Bible. I also liked the individual stories throughout the book. I would recommend this book to Christian Missionaries traveling abroad (regardless of country or the faith of the people they are ministering to) as there are good practices in how to honor others (different than ourselves) throughout this book. I would also recommend it as a book for anyone to study for cultural awareness in general. I chose this rating because of the depth the author went into to provide encompassing multi-cultural coaching in both Muslim/Christian worldviews as well as Western/Eastern worldviews. Carl has challenged me to dive in deeper. I want to grow in my relationship with Jesus and to love my neighbors better and more genuinely than before.

A Muslim’s Take

This book is one of the most respectful books that I have read that talks about Islam and Christianity. I love that it talks about the similarities rather than just the differences that most people write about. I was hesitant to listen to it but I am thankful I did so now I can share it with my Christian friends who have questions about Islam or have preconceived notions and/or prejudices against Islam. Thank you, Carl for writing such an interesting book.
