Acerca de esta escucha

It’s time to rewrite history with amateur detectives Flora Steele and Jack Carrington as they are called to a castle to unearth the clues of a murder most medieval…

Sussex, 1959. The sun is shining on the breathtaking castle as the Abbeymead Historical Society prepare their re-enactment of the Battle of Lewes. But the fun ends abruptly when council worker Alex Vicary falls to his death from the castle ramparts. A shadowy figure runs from the scene, but Alex was a beloved member of the community… who could possibly want him dead?

As Flora and Jack investigate further, they dig up troubles Alex kept buried from those closest to him. Perhaps he was pushed by his money-hungry landlord, Larry Morton, who was trying to sell Alex’s home? Or maybe his oldest and shiftiest friend, Bruce Sullivan, who gambled away the money Alex loaned him? Or could it be his wide-eyed new girlfriend, Diane Croft, who dodges questions about Alex’s death, and hides presents from another suitor?

But when Flora discovers an engagement ring among Alex’s possessions, she is stunned to learn that his relationship with Diane was more serious than everyone thought. With whispers of another man fighting for Diane’s heart, were the battle lines drawn for love?

Then the body of a second member of the society is found, and the pair realise time is running out. Will history repeat itself with yet another death? Or can Flora and Jack catch their killer before the medieval murderer bids them both adieu?

A totally compelling and absolutely charming cozy mystery novel. Fans of Agatha Christie, Faith Martin and Joy Ellis will adore this gripping series!

Another winner!

I didn’t totally figure this one out right away and loved that! I can’t wait for the next one. It was a little cheat as you thought from the last book you were going to get their honeymoon mystery but this one was stuck in there before hand. It was a good progression of a lot of the characters in Abbey Meed. It was nice getting closer and closer to more of the characters besides Jack and Flora. I like the nuances included of the newlyweds. Two adults each a bit set in their ways have now fallen in step as a couple and now know what the other would say or do. I love this series it’s just so easy to envision the characters and picture the background. I love they have tea at every turn for every reason. I’d love to have a stay at the hotel. Flora and Jack always save the day and again keeps you guessing and hoping to slow the story so with some extra to keep from it ending!
I’m excited for our murder honeymoon in Italy!

The Plot

OK I have to say that this is the best book in the series yet. I cannot wait for the next one. The way the storyline was set up. I felt like I was watching TV. It came just at the right pace. I was still left in wonder as to who did what. I kind of figured out that it was one thing. But it came to be something else. I love it when the writer tricks my mind. In a good way. I do highly recommend this particular book, and I also cannot wait for the next one.

Solid characters and era

I always like this series and the narrator is excellent (crucial for me). This installment in the series was just a little more slow going and dragged a bit in the middle. I’m comparing to Cherringham and Bunburry and those are big shoes to fill. Very good read.
