A glamorous perfume launch which reeks of nothing but death....
London, Midsummer, 1925.
London is in bloom and the sun is shining. But trouble is lurking around the corner.... Posie Parker has been summoned to Chelsea, to the House of Sinne, the fashionable London perfume house.
Anouk Sinne, the most brilliant perfumier of her age, has been receiving blackmail demands, and asks Posie to investigate. But is blackmail just the tip of the iceberg?
A launch party for the House of Sinne’s highly anticipated new fragrance is just about to take place, and Posie finds herself rubbing shoulders with some very famous people, but after the "reveal" of the strangest perfume Posie has ever experienced, things take a chilling turn for the worse....
When Anouk Sinne herself is found murdered in her own garden, Posie must investigate, and quickly. And what she uncovers are secrets everywhere, and motives galore.
Can Posie stop the killer before they strike again?

Historia
The first audiobook which appeared in Georges Simenon's famous Maigret series, in a gripping new translation by David Bellos.Inevitably Maigret was a hostile presence in the Majestic. He constituted a kind of foreign body that the hotel's atmosphere could not assimilate. Not that he looked like a cartoon policeman. He didn't have a moustache and he didn't wear heavy boots. His clothes were well cut and made of fairly light worsted. He shaved every day and looked after his hands. But his frame was proletarian. He was a big, bony man.

Historia
In Jasper Fforde's Great Britain, circa 1985, time travel is routine, cloning is a reality (dodos are the resurrected pet of choice), and literature is taken very, very seriously. England is a virtual police state where an aunt can get lost (literally) in a Wordsworth poem and forging Byronic verse is a punishable offense. All this is business as usual for Thursday Next, renowned Special Operative in literary detection.

Another outstanding adventure
I get very excited about the next book as they all have been wonderfully entertaining and imaginative. The narrator brings life to each character superbly allowing you to visualize and be enveloped in the adventure. Looking forward to Murder and the Mermaid and hoping for more to come.

Cleverly written
This was a cleverly written story. The auther took great care to make the reader part of the environment, to be able to "see" the environment and the people therein through words. The only qritique I can give is the use of OMG from time to time. I'm sure alternative words could have been used that would have not taken away anything from the story.

A favorite in the series!
I have always liked the Posie Parker series, despite 2 or 3 of the darker books with ABD, especially the one in which he dies. However, I have really enjoyed each of the stories since then with PP and Lovelace. And I especially liked the plot of this 12th book with its promising cliff hanger ending. Can't wait for book 13!
One of the chapters is out of sequence, but I found it did not detract from the plot or my enjoyment of the story.

Captivating series
I’ve listened to the whole series and I’ve rarely seen anything with more intriguing plot twists. There’s also humor, adventure and travel. I’m awaiting the next Posie and Richard adventure in Paris, I assume.
